A new cache placed in honor of my favorite trout fly, the Salmon Fly (Pteronarcys Californica). We travel down to the Gunnison river several times per year, and no trip is more highly anticipated than trying to time the arrival of these giant bugs! The nymphs live three to four years in the water before emergence. Immediately prior to emerging, the nymphs congregate near the shoreline in shallow water on partially exposed rocks. To emerge, the nymphs crawl from the water to rocks or the shore, and split the nymphal exoskeleton. The adults emerge from the exuviae ready to mate. The emergence is also followed closely by fly-fishermen, and is one of the highlights of the spring fishing season. You are searching for a log only camod' pill bottle placed in a very unique structure along the trail. This area can get really hot, so make sure you have plenty of sun screen and water before setting out. Happy Hunting, and BYOP!

Great day to be out. Have been hoping for better than two weeks that someone would get this log signed. I couldn't take it any longer and headed out this morning to slap ink onto the blank log. Really nice 2.5 mile rt that turned into a 5.5 mile rt. When you get to ground zero and find the cache and reach for the pen to sign the blank log you remember that you left the pen in the truck. Oh well what to do. I talked it over with the my dog and she suggested I go back to truck get the pen and sign the log. I tried to get her to go back and get the pen but she didn't like that idea, so we both went back. Great hike. The first hike in was cool and enjoyable, the second hike was a lot warmer and not so enjoyable, but we got it signed. There were plenty of fishermen on the river and I saw a few with their lines taught with a fish. Great day for all. T4TC
