got the FTF

UPDATE: July 18, 2017. The cache went missing along with two travel bugs. I replaced it with a smaller container that will hopefully be less likely to be spotted. Please replace the natural camo to keep this hidden.

Originally known as Tanner Cemetery, the first burial was in 1873. In the 1880s the cemetery was expanded and became known as Highland Cemetery. In 1930 the operation was turned over to the city of Florence and it was renamed Union Highland Cemetery.

From Highway 67 take Arrowhead Drive (see waypoint) and follow it southwest to the cemetery.

Small container, BYOP. Cemetery hours are 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Please be respectful.

! The Exciting Cache Series!

“COLORADO SPIRIT QUEST”

REMEMBER:

If you are APPREHENSIVE about cemeteries – AVOID this series.

The Colorado Spirit Quest is a series of Caches placed by many individuals, near cemeteries and historic sites in hopes of paying respect to the many pioneer ancestors that have ‘walked’ before us.

If you are interested in being a part of this project, contact may be made by sending an e-mail to the owner of “Colorado Spirit Quest #1 – Mountain Passage”.  Use the ‘Send Message” link at the center of the page of their profile.

There are hundreds of cemeteries in the rural and mountain communities across Colorado.  This series will introduce you to many of them.

The cache pages will provide a virtual history tour of the cemeteries and tombstones.

The CSQ endeavor is an enormous and relentless task and will only flourish if there is a multitude of volunteer cachers  willing to place these caches.

After locating the cache container, take some time to reflect back on the lives of those pioneers and the effort it took to make Colorado such a great state.

Each person that places a CSQ cache is responsible for its maintenance.

I was on my way to nab an FTF on Junkins Fire so I stopped and checked on this cache. It was in place but not covered at all. The last cacher didn't bother to replace the natural camo. This is important considering how many times this has disappeared. All is good now. Cache on!

I stopped here on my way to hike Lewis Creek Trail. Darned if it wasn't missing again! That's at least the third time. I'm going to try to find a better spot when I have a little more time. Meanwhile I replaced it in the same spot. Cache on!

Still there. Just checking. I added a baggie for the log and covered the hide with some natural camo. It was pretty much in plain sight. Cache on!

Thank you for the history of this cemetery. We are from out of town and visited family grave sites today. Made a quick grab of this cache before we left. TFTC

In the area so I decided to pick up a cache or two. Looked for this one before, but that was when the container was missing. The find was too easy, not hidden at all. I fixed that.
Thanks, I signed the log.
