The time for light to travel from our sun to earth is about 8 minutes, 20 seconds.
The closest star to Earth is a triple-star system called Alpha Centauri.
The two main stars are Alpha Centauri A and Alpha Centauri B, which form a binary pair. They are about 4.35 light-years from Earth, according to NASA (opens in new tab). The third star is called Proxima Centauri or Alpha Centauri C, and it is about 4.25 light-years from Earth, making it the closest star other than our sun.
Thus sun light or star light, it's all old light. As with many things, rust happens as ithings age..
This applies to "light " also = it rusts as it ages. We are looking at "old light". Maybe 8 minutes or thousands of yearr old.
As light passes thru our atmosphere, it can be distorted / bent.
When the light from the sun is turned on, we call it daytime. When the light of the sun is turned off, we call that night time. At the time the sun is turned off, the lights of the stars are turned on.
The lights of the moon is sometimes all turned on (full moon), at times 1/2 turned on (1/2 moon). That is controlled by the utility company that provides electrical power to the moon.
Now that you've learned the theory of light by scientist Rusty Benton, it's your time to find a "Rusty-Bent-On - Happy Hunting.
