Peak 8547 is named for its summit elevation of 8,547 feet. From this location one gets marvelous views of the rugged terrain to the south including the various high points of North Sheep Mountain but especially of the sheerness of South Sheep Mountain across the deep canyon
of North St. Vrain Creek. Park at the Coulson Gulch Trailhead and be prepared for a round trip hike of a little more than 7 miles. You will experience a cumulative elevation gain of more than 1,500 feet.
Once you reach this easy mountain's summit, relax and have a sandwich while admiring the fine landscape laid out before you, including the two Sheep Mountains and Ralph Price Reservoir and, in the distance, Coffintop. Then find the cache. It's a small container hidden well south of the actual summit. Have a fun outing.
