Take Hermit Rd. west and when you come to the fork in the road, turn left, there will be a sign that says Hermit Pass. At this point your ar approximately 3.3 miles from the parking area (N38 05.970 W105 36.466). Four wheel drive is probably needed or high ground clearance. Cross the steam and it is approximately 1mi. hike. This is our first cache and I promise you some of the best views in the area.<p>We were not prepared to leave a cache, but because of the beauty, there was no option. Cache is a plastic container with miscellaneous stuff from our camp. Our 5 and 7 year old are very proud!

go toward the mine in back for victory. The birds view stand built in trees next to cabin may be worth the risk.

Yippee!!! This cache hasn't been found in over six years and we found it. You just have to tune in your Geo senses. Actually ground zero with my iPhone was 5 feet.
Cache container looks like it's had some critters trying to get into it but otherwise in OK shape. There was one log in the 'book' from 2017 that somebody wrote cuz they had stumbled upon it accidentally and it's not obviously posted, so we still claim the find in over 6 years . Also, hiked straight up the hill from Hermits Hideout cache, not on the nice atv trail .

Floyd's place has a wonderful view! Probably a little isolated in the winter. Thanks for bringing us here.

Scott wasn't feeling well so he stayed behind and Gina got the 4 kids up to the cache after many breaks. We found a garter snake up by the cabin. We searched for the cache for some time but then it started to thunder and we decided we better head back down. Now after reading the clue - we were in the wrong spot - so do note that others have found it a ways from the coordinates so read the clue. Either way the kids enjoyed the cabin and the snake.

Rode horse to site. Very impressive view of our valley. Local resident, Westcliffe. Had trouble at first thought find was just something from previous visitors. Very different cach. Could be used for longer stay. The view is terrific also from the hunters stand [bird seat]. This was my second individual find. Forgot to bring along trade item. Will return with friends and make trade at that time. Log book was quite interesting reading. Began early 90s. TFTC C W Scout [Civil War]

We stopped by Floyd's place today, but Floyd wasn't around. However, we did check out the great views from his old cabin, and also found the cache. TNLN and signed the logsheet. Thanks!

Wow, I can't believe this cache hasn't been found in over two years! We were down in Westcliffe camping for Labor Day weekend when we attempted this cache. The cache is still in good condition with a few tiny holes in the top. We loved the stunning view from the trail and the eerie caved in mines. The cache was almost 75 feet from the posted coordinates so I'll post our new coordinates soon in case you guys want to do a coord update. Thanks a lot for this hike and cache site, signed log.

P.S. When we decoded the hint we thought it meant that the cache was in that bat/bird house in the tree by Floyd's house! We ended up climbing for nothing! :)

We drove up there in our two wheel drive 1 ton van. We call this a butt pucker road (use your imagination)for we currently have MAYPOP brand tires on our van. The hike on up to the cache was well worth it. Enjoyed all the scenery and retrieved a TB that had been up there since 2005. WHAT HAPPENED TO FLOYD?? TFTC TNLNSL

Nicely done. A bit of snow on the ground, but otherwise a nice hike to the cache. Passed a couple of groups of hunters along the trail, but it seems they were more interested in watching for elk, so I don't think they ever saw me. Took the shotgun shell and left a wooden bear someone can finish carving. 40 degrees and sunny, but the cache may be covered with snow if we get another storm soon. Noted two groups had logged the cache since it had been checked.
