Its a nice drive up Spruce Creek Rd. This is at 7000 ft so there is gonna be a lot of snow in the winter. The dirt road can be rough and watch for big truck traffic. It gets pretty muddy when it rains. This is remnants of an old cabin and homestead. I am guessing that it could be about 100 years old since there is no trail going to it. It used to be someone's little peace of heaven. If you park on the road and follow the natural spring, that should be the easiest route. The spring is on the west edge of a drilling rig location. Its not a very far hike. Initial contents: pencils and log, flashlight, earplugs, stickers, 2 drilling bit key chains, northface pin, bottle opener, elk ivory, AAA batteries, utility tool, fingernail clipper, can coozy. Thanks to the guys on 271 for the cool swag.

07/14/2013 By happydog67 I think I know why the homesteaders abandoned this cabin. They were overrun by deer flies! Holy cow, they were thick. We tried to hurry and find this so as to escape the flies, but did get mauled nonetheless! The cache has been chewed on by an unknown critter, and the lid is missing. We found some of the contents scattered about and replaced them as best as we could. We briefly tried to locate the lid, but we truly were getting mauled and could bear it no longer and had to abandon the mission. We still got a smiley though, so it's all good....!
04/24/2012 By CoBugz82 Phew!!! I almost forgot to log this one today.... First find of the day. I took the long way in to find this one and the short way out.... Granted I was led by three snowshoe hares.... (you always see the coolest stuff when you don't have any way to take a picture)..... Anyways great cache!!!

06/04/2011 By Polaski Not sure if this is part of Spruce Creek, but it is part of "Wet Ankles Creek". Found this one this morning after going out to do some cache maintenance. Nice walk and a great place to have had a homestead cabin. TFTC, SL and headed to the house.
