This is behind Idaho Springs. We were doing The #6 RocketMan Series. This trail is rated 6 - 8 on a Jeep scale.
So We were on Spring Creek Pass and JPIT was looking across the highway and spied a big silver truck angled the wrong way off the trail over on Red Elephant Hill. While he was relaying it to Us over the radio a security guy scanning the frequency overheard. He asked for help on the trucks locatio. JPIT, Rocketman and Zoltig figured out the trucks approximate location using their tracks from an earlier trip up there. It was really neat listening to it on the radio and watching THE GUYZ at work. I never heard what happened but the truck was gone when we got back down. Hopefully everyone is safe.

I brought my bike up to ride the Peaks to Plains trail today and then later a ride from Idaho Spring to Georgetown and back - finding caches along the way of course. I made the find here at 3:21 pm. Thanks for the cache!

Whew, what a hike. There are a lot more roads up here than what I was expecting.
Those miners sure were busy right here digging a series of glory holes.

This series was one of the primary targets of this trip as I just bought a new shiny Rubicon and wanted to see how far it would go stock. Not far, at least on this trail, is the answer. We made it up to the 2nd obstacle and had to go on foot from there as not having a solution to get extracted if something happened was not smart business. Adding to the issues were an inexperienced 4WD, 105 pound, partner that couldn't move some heavy rocks with me, and no mods. On this trail you have to have mods.

We did mange to get 5 of the 7. The first on at the base of the hill we believe is missing, and decided at the Rock Garden that we didn't need Number 7. We hiked 2 -7 and did Team Red Rubicon to the Rescue. After seeing the Rock Garden, so glad we didn't tempt fate.
