Take a hike or a mountain bike on this section of the Midland Trail. The hike is fairly easy. On a bike, there is one section of hill that requires a little skill. The air is a little thinner here in Colorado; the elevation of the cache is around 8585ft.
Take County Road 304 to the "Big Sandy" parking area located at trailhead N 38°49.796' W 106°05.143' on the Midland Trail. Be sure to enjoy the views of the Collegiate Peaks before you begin! From the parking area, it's a short hike to the tall, dead ponderosa. Once you are there, use the hint.

This is one I’ve wanted to do forever, great hike with the little ones. Hike is about one mile one way, you eventually leave the trail to scramble up. Enjoy the views of the lovely juniper trees.
