Needs maintenance

Both stages are at overlooks on the Ridge Trail at the Dillon Nature Preserve
I just received a FLAME MAIL from a cacher who found the first stage but couldn't read the 2nd stage coordinates. My apologies to anyone who also could not read the coordinates. If you did and are still following this cache, feel free to claim it as a find. I will rewrite the coordinates as soon as I can. Until then, the final coordinates are N39 deg 36.790min W106deg 02.110min.

This is a relatively easy walk along and above Dillon reservoir. It is about 3 3/4 miles with only about 600 feet of total elevation gain. It should take 1 to 1 1/2 hours. There are great views to reward those who seek this cache. It is relatively low (for Summit County) so the trail should be open mid April until November. During the Summer the area can get hot so it would be advisable to do it early in the morning or later in the evening.

The cache is a 2 stage multicache so the shortest and best way is to do it in a counterclockwise loop. Park at the parking lot along Hwy 6 (coordinates below) and walk along the lake to the second junction for the Ridge Trail (coordinates below). There are great views from both overlooks. You can see Keystone's North Peak, the entire Ten Mile Range, and Buffalo and Red Mountain at the South end of the Gore Range. And of course Dillon Reservoir.

Please stay on the well maintained trail. Do not go across the fence into the revegitation areas. You don't need to.

Enjoy the walk and the views

Enjoyed our afternoon hike in this area. I wasn't aware of the great trails in this area. Poured out about a 1/2 inch of rusty water but the contents were fine and the log was dry in a zipper bag.

Found on an awesome 7 mi hike with PBaril on a trip to Colorado with friends. Beautiful scenery, we also got the earthcache in the area. PBaril's 1st for both. Thanks for the caching fun.

When I got to GZ I was glad there were no muggles, but of course before I could get the container closed they showed up. I tried to be stealthy.

Here in the area for a week of caching/hiking. We found some great hides along the trails. We made it to stage 1 and had no luck finding cache. Skipped on to stage 3 and got a happy face.
