GCNMYZ Unknown Cache Crypto Cache # 3 - All My Children
Type: Mystery | Size: Small Small | Difficulty: 3.5 out of 5 | Terrain: 2 out of 5
By: ColoradoPaul @ | Hide Date: 05/18/2005 | Status: Available
Country: United States | State: Colorado

The above coordinates ARE NOT the location of the cache, in fact, they are the coordinates for the Safeway on Colorado Avenue . . . but first let me tell you a story.

A fellow geocacher was visiting me and asked me how many children I have.
“Three,” I replied.
“What are their ages?” he continued.
“Well, let me put it this way, if you multiply their three ages together, you get 36.” (their ages are whole numbers)
The geocacher thought for a moment and then asked for another hint.
“The sum of their ages is the number on the house next door,” I answered.
He immediately jumped over the fence to determine the number. A few moments later he returned and said he still needed one more hint.
“Okay,” I said, “but this is the last one. My eldest, Matthew, plays the piano.”

Do you know the ages of my children? If you do, you can find a cache.

A = sum of my two youngest children’s ages plus two
B = Jessica’s age
C = Matthew’s age

Coordinates: 38 47.A98 104 5B.C28

There is only ONE correct answer that fits everything said in the story. It is not a matter of multiple possibilities.

Thanks for the cache! The puzzle took some figuring out, but I managed to get a good set of coords. Once verified I saved t for another day. Today the critters and I made our way the GZ. This is one of those caches you either find or spend a long time! I spent a long time and finally from a different angle than I had previously looked I spotted the cache. Perfect camo an well hidden. Signed and stamped the log and replaced as found. All is well here! Thanks for placing this one for us all to enjoy!

TFTPC I was in the area with nicehice working on some challenge requirements and had some puzzles solved in the area so we stopped for those also. After hiking Mays Peak I was a little tired with the up and down of this one, but it was a great hide with a tremendous camo job on the container. I almost lost the lid right in front of me; I thought I had put it in my pocket. Everything was in good shape. Thanks for maintaining these out here.

Picked this one up while waiting for OF-Erad to arrive for a few others in the area. Unfortunately, I made this MUCH harder than it had to be as I picked the wrong trail and ended up going way down to come back up then my GPSr had me going up and down. It was then that I read the hint and made an educated guess where to go and found the cache fairly quickly. Nice camo job! TFTC SL
