A relatively quick cache-'n-grab with a pretty stellar view of the Flatirons.
The Flatirons have always been one of my favorite parts of living in Boulder, and so I thought it right that they be the catalyst for placing my first geocache. This cache isn't so much about the find as it is about the view - no wonder the nearby soccer fields are called Pleasant View. Bonus points for submitting a super artsy Flatirons picture taken from GZ in your log.
You're looking for a fair-sized container that's pretty long. The parking lot in which the cache is situated in is not open most of the time - you can take your chances parking right outside the gate, or you could park in the adjacent neighborhood and walk a little ways to the cache (see waypoints for recommended parking spot). However, biking or walking is by far the best way to get to the cache - GZ is close to quite a few bike routes, and restrooms and water are usually available during the summer. Challenge yourself and go for a bike ride or a walk/run to the cache - unless it's been stolen, there should be a pen in the cache, so you don't need anything to find this one but a smile (and a GPS).
IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOU DO NOT SEARCH FOR THIS CACHE WHEN THE PARKING LOT IS OPEN!!!!
If the parking lot is open, that probably means there's a soccer/ultimate frisbee/whatever tournament going on, which means lots and lots and lots of Muggles, including very young and curious Muggles eager to run off with a container full of treasure that they saw someone hide and walk away from. The parking lot is usually open on weekends, so if you're in the area but the lot is swarming with people, DES's "Springfield in Boulder #4", just up the way, is an equally good cache with an equally good view, provided you have extensive knowledge of The Simpsons (or you could Google all the answers like I did).
FTF gets a cool little paracord keychain thingy. Make sure to hide the cache very well when you leave!
Above all, enjoy the beautiful view of the Flatirons!

If you drive to the cache, it's recommended you park here and walk on the paved path next to the field to get to the cache.
