It's time for the 2022 GCCO Travel Bug Race! Get your racer ready!

Location: Panera Bread 4955 S Ulster St. No purchase required to attend.  You are responsible for any refreshments you wish to purchase.

All are welcome to attend, participation in the TB race is not required!

The race is open to any Colorado cacher who wants to play. Bring or Register a trackable with zero (none, nada, zip, zilch, NO) miles on it to a kick-off event on May 14th-16th, with an official start date of May 15th, to send it OFF TO THE RACES.

Mileage status will be confirmed by a GCCO representative before your trackable is released. The rules are:

1. You may enter any two types of trackables you wish per account. Travel bugs, coins, or TB codes on anything are eligible. Anyone with a Geocaching account is eligible to participate. You will activate and own your own trackable. Have fun!

2. Your trackable must have zero miles on May 14, 2022 and no back logging is allowed. You may enter the race at anytime between May 14th and May 21st! Late entries must still have zero miles on it at the time it is entered.  Race ends October 1, 2022, and winners will be announced at the Meet the GCCO Board event later that same month.

3. You may not move your own or your immediate family member's trackables. You may move any other racer's trackables.

4. You may not mail or virtual move your trackable. Note: The Find Signal the Frog® - Locationless in 2020 or Let’s improve the outdoors - Locationless Cache would be virtual moves. If your racer gets dropped or dipped into a Locationless cache, you will need to delete those logs. The trackable must be moved in the possession of a Geocacher at all times. That means you cannot give it to your muggle relatives or friends to take it on vacation with them. They will have to make a Geocaching account!

5. Improperly dipped trackables will be requested to have their logs fixed by the owner. This can happen if people do not log their finds in order. We will notify you if we are made aware of this. Failure to fix the issue can result in disqualification.

6. No proxy re-entries are allowed. If any of your original entries go missing, then their race is finished. As a result, all entries must have a photo uploaded of the TB as it will appear before the start of the race. Entries submitted to Geocaching Colorado without a photo will not be added to the race.

7. There are no size or tagging requirements on your physical trackable. It would be helpful to mention that your trackable is in this race and include a link to this cache on your trackable page description. However, there are no trackable page requirements and we leave that up to you.

If you are unable to attend an event, you can be creative and get a TB to a Board member or other attending geocacher prior to the event.  I (Jinxer 05) am happy to help affix purchased codes to an object to help get it out, and other board members may be happy to do the same. Some locations will have pre-made GCCO tags for purchase.

This is designed to be a fun and lighthearted endeavor. Anyone not playing by the rules will simply be removed. Please ask if you have any questions! Updates will be posted to this page as finer details are known.

First event of three today to celebrate the GCCO travelbug launch. I only released one - and it was sent into the ether here. I grabbed one to move along.
Thanks for hosting the event!

It's always fun to attend events in different parts of town, as different folks may be there. I enjoyed chatting with everyone on a gorgeous day - thanks for hosting!

I attended with LilRyRy and CDRSheppo after a delicious breakfast with family at the Original Pancake House. I had already been planning to stop by before we were invited to breakfast, and I was pleased to see how close they were. We had time to search for some traditional finds in the area before the event started. The boys were a bit loud and crazy, but that's normal for us. Nice to chat with some fellow geocachers. Thanks for hosting this event!
