Dangerous Animals

Maybe only math nerds will understand this fascinating number. But that's ok. Maybe after reading this (and grabbing the cache) you, too, will learn to love the number 58. The number 58 is a Smith Number.

A Smith number is a composite number in which the sum of its digits is equal to the sum of the digits in its prime factorization. For example, 378 = 2 × 3 × 3 × 3 × 7 is a Smith number since 3 + 7 + 8 = 2 + 3 + 3 + 3 + 7. In this definition the factors are treated as digits: for example, 22 factors to 2 × 11 and yields three digits: 2, 1, 1. Therefore, 22 is a Smith number because 2 + 2 = 2 + 1 + 1. A different, notorious Smith Number is my favorite.

According to last weeks LogBook by Geocaching.com, it recommends staying connected through geocaching.com. And yet they have chosen not to publish new caches. We have solved all the puzzles we can, have found everything close to us, we keep up on maintenance of our own caches, so what to do now? Since the trails close to us are packed with idiots that won't follow guidelines (keep 6 feet or more distance), we figured our only option was to "travel" outside of our area. We enjoyed the beautiful weather and peace and quiet of just the cows and cactus. We did maintenance on so many caches because of some very lazy CO's that haven't tended to their caches in as much as 3 years. We replaced and repaired containers, replaced logs and replaced missing caches. Cache in good shape, SL,TNLN,TFTC

There is still too much snow in Denver today but out here there isn't any at all so this turned out to be great place for some numbers caching. I found 80 altogether and this one at 1:05 pm. Thanks for the cache and for making my day more fun!

Went for an early-morning drive out in the boonies north-east of the Denver metro area - no traffic lights, and very few stop signs - enjoyed it immensely - this was the last of four geocaches that I found along the way. TN-LN-SL. Thanks !

Day 5 of a 10 day road trip to Mingo in Kansas and GeoWoodstock in Texas as our main targets with Capers4, Frazuky and KaiteeDee aka Squirrel Girls. Signed in to caches as Squirrel Girls, our names or initials.

We were passing through this area and decided to stop. Great to see the plants etc and enjoyed seeing the tumbleweed.

Shared FTF @ 10:59am with our group and excited to have another FTF in Colorado.

Thanks for the Smilie...
