This is a Wherigo themed around my favorite Doctor. If you have ever watched Doctor Who you will know that he always has companions. That is what you will need for this Wherigo as well. You are going to need a crew (mob) of FIVE with smart phones with internet access to be able to get the code to start this Wherigo adventure.

(Hint: The 5 of you do not all need to be geocachers, but you do all need to have your own smartphone.)

You will need a smart phone with the ability to access the internet using a standard browser. You will also need 4 companions (for a total of 5) with smart phones.

Many of you have been to a flash mob event. You all get there at a certain time, sign the log, and leave a few minutes later. This is the same idea - get 5 people at a specified location at the same time (all using smart phones), and then the code to start the Wherigo is revealed. Posted coordinates are in the center of the Fickle Park. This is roughly where you will start your adventure.

Geo-Mob (CLICK HERE)

  • Park somewhere near the posted coordinates
  • Open "https://www.geotrailsw.com/mob/" on your smart phone. (Android users must use any browser other than the Chrome browser. Firefox is recommended.)
  • Verify that the accuracy displayed is reasonable (hopefully less than 40 feet or so.)
  • "Which mob are you attending?" When prompted with this question, enter the number 3694 This will open a screen that will navigate you to the "GEO-MOB" coordinates.
  • You may already be at the mob coordinates, if you're not, it's a short walk from the posted coordinates.
  • Once the website verifies you are at the location, the counter bumps up. Next is to get all of your companions to do the same and meet you at this location. Everyone has to get within a 25-foot-radius sized circle. So squeeze in. You'll have to get 4 of your companions (and you) squeezed in there. Good luck with that.
  • When the counter reaches the required mob size of 5, the code for the Wherigo will be revealed. Stay in your tight group formation until the revealed information is recorded, or written down, or photographed, or memorized within your photographic memory. Record this information right away! If people leave the mob area, the page you are looking at may disappear and no longer show you the needed code. (It takes a minute. Be patient)
  • Then enter the code into the Wherigo cartridge from below. That will allow you to continue the Wherigo and navigate to the final.
  • The fun is not over yet. Once you and your companions navigate to the geocache you will have one more thing to do. You will need to open the puzzle box which is in the form of the Doctors favorite mode of transportation. Yep, you are looking for a 3-D printed geocache container in the shape of the TARDIS.

Notice: geomobs are currently broken on Android Chrome browser. Please use Firefox for Androids (or another non chrome based browser) until this is fixed. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Wherigo

Wherigo™ Cache

Wherigo is a toolset for creating and playing GPS-enabled adventures in the real world. By integrating a Wherigo experience, called a cartridge, with finding a geocache, the geocaching hunt can be an even richer experience. Among other uses, Wherigo allows geocachers to interact with physical and virtual elements such as objects or characters while still finding a physical geocache container. A Wherigo-enabled GPS device is required to play a cartridge. Learn more at Wherigo.com.

Headed north with animjason, and Bhob today targeting non-traditional geocaches. This was one of them.

I was part of the mob, then watched animjason figure out the awesome container.

Thanks Memfis Mafia! Logged Timey Wimey - [A Geo-Mob Wherigo] from a ninth galaxy using c:geo!

Today, after the Inquiring Minds event, I went caching with my caching buddies, @2lablovers . We roamed the areas west of Berthoud and grabbed a variety of cache types. It was a lot of fun.
Right after the event we met up with @SeekDaCache and @Peacelovepi to work on this Whereigo. I must first confess my sins.... I don't like whereigos. So many are buggy and difficult that it is hard to appreciate them. But, this one was different. It was a ton of fun! A little teamwork and we had the info to grab the final. Not to say that this was over. The container is another stage of fun. We figured it out and were able to stamp our names before heading our separate ways.
Here ya go, a rare favorite on a Whereigo from me. Great job!

Since it was still chilly outside, I wore one of E's hawaiian shirts over my jacket. This was my first time using the add-on feature needed to fulfill the requirement for a wherigo such as this one. Thanks to those that helped me figure it out . Thanks for the cito event Jesse. Nice that you used one of Bary's creative container.

Must admit we are not really big fans of wherigos but we loved this one ! Easy to get a group together as we were all at the event. Met at the park and after a few false starts had the code. Got the coordinates and we all jumped into our cars and headed to the final. Then the challenge began. We thought the hard part was over when we got the container open, then discovered that closing it is harder than opening it ! Fun times with SeekDaCache, peace love pi, and LostinDenver. Thanks for a great cache Memfis Mafia - definitely gets a favorite point.

After attending the Intriquing Minds - Cache Challenges event in Berthoud, Peace love pi, lostindenver and 2 lablovers and us all teamed up and we headed out to go grab this cache. After getting our devices to sync up with the coords at the park, we headed out in a caravan to GZ. We arrived at GZ with a light rain. We all particapted in attempting to get to the log and after a few minutes we had the log in hand. The hard part was now getting it back together, it took us about 10 minutes to finally have it back and rehidden for the next finder. All in all, it was a very fun time. Awesome cache container!!!!
