For many years people had suspected the Rocky Mountains in Colorado had numerous rich gold deposits. In 1835, a French trapper by the name of Eustace Carriere had ended up losing his party and wandered through the mountains for many weeks. During these weeks he found many gold specimens which he later took back to New Mexico for examination. Upon examination, they turned out to be "pure gold". But when he tried to lead an expedition back to the location of where he found the gold, they came up short because he could not quite remember the location.
This event helped spark the Pikes Peak Gold Rush several years later.

I stopped here on my way to work after dropping my son off school. Not completely on the way, but it was close enough that it wasn't much of a detour. It took me a few minutes to get to the right GZ. But then I spotted it quickly. It was a little tricky to unscrew the right part of it, but once I got a good grip it worked fine. These containers never cease to amaze me! And I have no idea how this is secured but it's working really well! I hope to make it back to this area when I have a little more time to find your other hide up the trail.

Thanks for the hide SPat ABQ. I appreciate you keeping this cache active for everyone to enjoy.

Spotted it pretty quickly spun & spun but couldn’t get anything to happen. Then I finally realized I was spinning to much & this would be a four fingered operation. TFTC

I'm taking a class on geocaching at the nearby alternative High School and I was gone the day they found this one but on our way to a different cage they were kind enough to let me find this one before we continued walking. It's a sneaky bugger!

Went out for a drive on a warm (but overcast) summer day - this was the nineth of ten geocaches that I found along the way (also, the last stop on a park-once-find-three excursion). TN-LN-SL. Thanks !

You were right - it is there in plain sight. Of course that didn't stop us from searching in some wrong spots first.
