This cache is NOT at the posted coordinates. There are five locations with various tasks and difficulties. You MUST confirm your coordinates for each Waypoint to receive instructions on how to avoid and defeat the Demon; who wants his revenge. You will be given a surprise during your journey to help you succeed. Have fun and good luck!
This is my 13th hide and it is definitely evil!
It was also placed on Friday the 13th!
It also started with 13 Trackables!
I was lucky to defeat the Demon with my friend John! This angered the Demon immensely so now he is after all Geocachers. Now YOU must defeat him by finding this cache. To help you on your journey; I'll tell you three things:
1. You can solve the first two Waypoints from home and then go find what is required.
2. There's a puzzle at every step. You must take good notes! Your success relies on it!
3. It is a long and difficult journey, having a smart phone or laptop with internet is REQUIRED!
It'd be wise to bring someone who has this if you don't to avoid multiple trips home.
***I created a page of nudges and hints to help you. The nudges are free, but the hints are puzzles***
This is the Greatest and Best Cache in the World... Tribute!
"A long time ago me and my buddy Jason here,
we was Geocachin' down a long and lonesome road.
When all of a sudden, there appeared an evil demon...
on the side... of the road.
And he said:
'Find the best cache in the world, or I'll eat your souls.' (SOULS)
Well me and Jason, we looked at each other,
and we each said... 'Okay.'
Then we found the cache that was nearest to us
And it just so happened to be,
The best cache in the world, it was the best cache in the world."
Check Waypoint 1
3505230000441010055
"We looked into the tunnel and could easily see
We need a light in there - to defeat the demon. It's our destiny
Followed the trail to our next big clue,
Better take some notes, maybe one or two
It'd be wise to do..."
Check Waypoint 2
OH NO! While you were on the sacrificial grounds, the Demon put a HEX on you. You will have to find the antidote before he eats your soul! He keeps it at his house, but he has a muggle slave that threatened me if I place anything near it, even on public property! I don't wanna deal with this issue; so I stole the antidote from the Demon's house and placed it where you can safely retrieve it. I hope you took good notes...
If you ever accidentally come across the Demon's house; DO NOT STOP! I'm being serious... they threatened gunfire!
This is about to get confusing (sorry, this is a tough HEX to beat). You must use the first and second Waypoint information. Did you take good notes???
Use the entire four digit number unless otherwise stated:
A = (The amount of 3s and 9s) NEXT TO (The amount of letters in the first word)
*This will equal a three digit number B = The amount of 4s C = (The amount of Horseshoes multiplied by ten) PLUS ((The top right number minus the bottom left number) divided by (the amount of 6s and 7s)). *This will equal a two digit number D = (The bottom right number minus the bottom left number) divided by (twice the amount of 2s)
Now get your Es and Ws too, here are the coordinates:
AEEBWCWBWD
Check Waypoint 3
"Well needless to say, the beast was stunned
We cracked his mysterious trail
And now the beast was done
He asked us, (SNORT) 'Be you Muggles?'
And we said, 'Nay. We are Geocachers.' (ROCK)"
"This is not The Greatest Cache in the World, no.
This is just a tribute.
I couldn't remember The Greatest Cache in the World, no, no.
This is a tribute, oh, to The Greatest Cache in the World,
All right! It was The Greatest Cache in the World,
All right! And it was the best Geocachin' day; the
greatest cache in the world."
The antidote contains your next coordinates... FINAL advice given within GeoCheck.
"And the peculiar thing is this my friends:
the cache we found on that fateful day,
it was absolutely nothing like this cache.
And this is just a tribute! You gotta believe me!
And I wish you were there! So you could claim another smilie."
"'Ah, yeah! Good hide, Gotta love it, So surprised to find it on our first visit
Saved our souls. Beat the demon. Time to log our find and then continue cachin'!
All right!"
Where's a cache with poetic verse?
Don't ask the demon, he's the worst.
Cachers have a job to do.
To run this baddie through and through.
Awesome, evil, inspired fun!
This cache has something for every one!
Puzzles! Waypoints! "Fishing" too!
Plus a musical interlude!
And the demon (THE DEMON)
He'll haunt your dreams.
Until you win and crush his scheme!
It won't be easy! I won't lie.
"The difficulty is justified."
Don't let that stop you!
Don't let him win!
Seek this cache! Bring a friend!
One cannot fully describe
the quest you'll take to find this hide…
After all…
This is not The Greatest Cache in the World, no.
This is just a tribute…
(but it's a highly fulfilling one!)

Congratulations to animjason for his cache winning the April Geocache of The Month!

All hints included; e-mail for additional help. Difficulty is justified. Terrain may be rated high for those with the right equipment, but just right for those who will need multiple trips. I will keep it at this rating to be fair all around.
06/18/2019 By Out14nd3r Where to start....This is a great cache with some very challenging stuff. Needed a nudge because some of the terrain has changed a bit from construction to flooding. I think the demon is trying to throw us off. But I beat the demon anyway. Completing this one was a good feel moment. TFTC SL Out14nd3r
12/16/2018 By Atomic Corgi Found it with my buddy PI Time
12/13/2018 By PiTime I had recently moved to the area and this was one of the first caches that caught my attention. After telling Atomic Corgi about it, I was soon trying to figure out the 1st two waypoints from my computer at home. The coordinates for the 1st presented themselves quickly but I ended up reaching out to animjason for a nudge on the 2nd. The following day, we were on our way to check both sites out. I really enjoyed the 2nd site, always a big fan of caches that have some form of this!
After a small math error, we made our way over to the 3rd stage and what an interesting spot. Neither of us had been to this part of town but took note of the nearby trail that passed through. I could see myself returning when the weather warms. After finding the necessary info at stage 3, we made a quick return to consult the laptop once more and the 4th stage was soon to follow. We enjoyed the song, really brought me back to the Tenacious D movie!
With about 40 minutes left of sunlight, we combed through where the coordinates had brought us and we were utterly confused. I even brought the rubber boots with to be able to access all areas. It's funny now looking back at all of it but in the moment we were completely stumped. So we decided to return the following day in hopes of a better search. I reached out to animjason once more and was given a little nudge, a very fitting hint haha.
Now the following day, we returned with our heads high and hopes of spotting something out of the ordinary. Atomic Corgi actually did so fairly fast and wow, I see why this cache has so many favorites. You had me wondering the whole time how you did that? Very well done and this was by far my favorite part of the cache.
The last stage took us a little bit of time. We had once again combed through the area heavily. Once again, Atomic Corgi spotted the final and we both hit ourselves on the head as we got ready to open it. I'm glad I took good notes on this one to say the least.
A great cache that I can't help but adding to my favorites list. It's easy to see why this one has stood the test of time and amassed so many favorites over the years. Thanks animjason for all of the work that you put behind this one, it has not gone unnoticed.
Consider yourself beaten demon! Now to just figure out the coin.
TFTC SL!
06/04/2018 By fearthefish Herndonrd has commented about this cache on more than one occasion. He started to tackle it then asked me to help and see if together we could conquer this beast. One portion in particular reminded me of when I first met the cache owner (i.e. you) back in 2011. Since I did not live in Colorado at the time, you weren't worried about me spoiling this for others and you showed me (more like subjected me) to a portion of this adventure. I did not give it much thought since I never expected to be looking for this one.
Fast forward seven years and I am now reliving this experience. I coincidentally joined up with herndonrd at this stage and was as clueless now as I was years ago as to what to do. Fortunately herndonrd is an intelligent man (a living example of how not to judge a book by its cover) and had an idea that did the trick.
I enjoyed this puzzle and am giving it a favorite point for multiple reasons. The whole journey is great and the final is incredibly clever. Also, finding a puzzle gets me very close to finally completing your Uber Mystery Challenge (less than thirty to go). Lastly, finding a puzzle today helps with another puzzle (canned language about my insanity to follow).
I chose today to look for this one because I signed an insane challenge in California that requires me to find a puzzle cache on every calendar day of the year (save February 29th) in order to meet the logging requirements. I had no trouble finding this one and I am thrilled to be one day closer to completing the challenge, though I still have just over sixty days to go. Thanks for the fun puzzle, hide, and for getting me outside on such a gorgeous day.
06/04/2018 By herndonrd So I started this myself and then teamed up with FeartheFish. We struggled against great adversity but finally defeated the Demon this afternoon. Gets a fav point. TFTC!
04/27/2018 By nerak2001 jasperdakota and I teamed up to complete this fabulous puzzle. We had a ton of fun, especially when traversing the spider-infested tunnels.
Thought we were stumped at the final WP, when jasperdakota saved the day and located the field puzzle. Right before the sun went down, we located the container, got it open, and signed the log. Swapped some TB's.
Thanks for the fun! Wish I could give this more than 1 favorite.
04/27/2018 By jasperdakota Fantastic cache and an epic adventure! I had solved the first two stages two years ago. Found today with Nerak2001, geodog Patches and new geopuppy Riley in a great joint effort. The tunnels were dry but full of spider webs and the creek was running low. We managed to defeat the Demon, but missed the clue to discover the Demon's coin. Picked up a couple of TBs.
07/25/2017 By RPieperCO Thanks for this awesome, maybe event the greatest, cache!!! I've had the first bit solved for awhile and it was just a matter of getting out there to finish it up. I stumbled on a couple spots and thankfully the CO was able to point out my lack of note taking abilities. All the info IS there! ha ha ha! AWESOME final stage! Met up with CC to nab that last bit. Signed the log and grabbed a few TB's to move along. All is in excellent shape. Favorite point for sure!
