Bear River (1914-1925) a coal company town was on the North side of what is now Hiway 40, and Coal View (1916-1921) another coal company town, was South of the river. Both coal camps had post offices, hotels, schools, and about 50 houses. If you look North across Hiway 40, from this cache, you'll see remains of at least two houses, and some foundations. If you travel West and look to the SE, there are two stone houses remaining from Coal View. In the 1980's, Sun Coal Company again mined the area of Coal View.

Man! What a find! I finally found it after reading some previous logs! My GPS and phone app took me to the bottom -- which I was then cussing not following my first instinct to park and walk along the railroad tracks. -- but then as I was pulling all of the newly acquired hounds tongue from my sleeves, pants, and even my hair, I re-read logs and made a different conclusion! So back up the hill I went -- where I did find some treasures (the old bucket and doll head in the picture) so I can't complain -- back to my original location thought -- where after maneuvering a newly downed oak brush, I found the cache! Wow! Thanks for the adventure!!
