This cache is found just outside of the beautiful Vega State Park. Parking is available in the near by parking lot or in the state park island parking lot. Remember to pick up a state park pass if you plan on parking on the island or spending time in the state park. The elevation is 8,000 feet.

Some stealth may be needed to avoid muggles, use foliage and hillside to conceal your approach
Vega Reservoir is a great place to beat the heat of Grand Junction in the summer time. In the fall the aspen trees provide a spectacular view. The sparsely populated surrounding area provides for a wonderful wildlife habitat. It is not uncommon to find deer and elk wondering about along with an occasional moose, porcupine and rare sittings of bear or mountain lions. The Vega State Park encompasses the Vega Reservoir, the largest body of water in the Grand Valley area. The lake is approximately two miles long and provides ample room for boating, water skiing and fishing. Rainbow Trout, Cutthroats, Brooks, Browns and Cutbows are all catch-able from shore as well as from a boat. The State park borders the Grand Mesa National Park. Reaching heights of 11,000 feet and cradling over 300 mountain lakes the Grand Mesa National Park is an oasis of hunting, fishing, hiking, four wheeling and all terrain vehicle (ATV) / off highway vehicle (OHV) riding. Over 100 miles of OHV trails are accessible from Vega State Park.

Had a fun time today watching the Huskers beat the Gophers at the lodge. Before leaving we had to find the cache.

Nice to find a full size cache up here! Thanks for the placement, we came up to view the old headstones that are usually underwater, decided to sample the local cuisine while here, and glad we did! Contents are dry and in good shape!

Decided to spend a hot 4th of July caching around Vega. Although the mosquitoes were horrible, we still had a successful caching day.

Quick find while no muggle eyes around. SL and replaced as found.
