CONGRATULATIONS TO CacheU and Sam_I_Am FOR THE CO-FTF!!

THIS IS A PUZZLE CACHE. IT IS NOT LOCATED AT THE LISTED COORDINATES. Do not go there. Instead, read details about the cache below, have fun discovering the locations of the art pieces, and then calculate the coordinates for the physical cache.

Fort Collins’ residents and visitors are blessed with a diverse array of interesting art forms viewable from public vantages. This puzzle is one in a continuing series that requires locating specific art works or related structures (such as publicly-displayed clocks, unique buildings or conspicuous features) that are shown in photographs. Each is within the city limits of Fort Collins. Once found, simple arithmetic or other manipulations of the object’s coordinates need to be made in order to calculate the actual location of the cache. Other puzzle caches in this series include:

GC40N9R What Time Ya Got, Fort Collins?
GC3F8DW Ride a Painted Pony
GC20VW5 Disneyland.... Here?
GC4VJZ3, etc. Where ART Thou, Fort Collins? [Series]

Ten pieces of public art in Fort Collins are featured as images through photo hot links on this cache page. Each is assigned a unique letter. To calculate the cache coordinates you will need to find the locations of all 10 of these objects. Finding certain pieces might be challenging, but by pursuing them you will probably learn more about The Choice City and its amenities. Enjoy your hunt!

After you have discovered the location of each art object determine it’s Latitude. Then use the .X00 (tenth) digit position of the Latitude’s decimal minutes in the simple equations below to calculate the coordinates of the physical cache container and its geocaching treasure: its log sheet! For example, if the Latitude of the art is N 40° 32.671, the number to use is “6". Do NOT round up unless specifically instructed to do so for a particular art object.

PLACE LATITUDE DIGIT
A =
______________ ______Lat Digit
B =
______________ ______Lat Digit
*C =
______________ ______Lat Digit
D =
______________ ______Lat Digit
E =
______________ ______Lat Digit
F =
______________ ______Lat Digit
*G =
______________ ______Lat Digit
H =
______________ ______Lat Digit
J =
______________ ______Lat Digit
K =
______________ ______Lat Digit

P=J

Q=A

R=B

S=F-1

W=C

X=E+4

Y=D+K

Z=G+H-3

The coordinates for the cache are:

N 40° 3P.QRS

W 105° 0W.XYZ

[*A NOTE ON ART OBJECTS C AND G. THE TENTH DIGIT POSITIONS OF THEIR LATITUDES IS CLOSE TO A CHANGE FROM ONE DIGIT TO ANOTHER. IN EACH CASE USE THE HIGHER OF THE TWO POSSIBLE DIGITS!]

Enjoy learning more about The Choice City as you seek out the locations of the 10 art pieces needed to solve this puzzle. It’s a darned nice city, and this cache should enhance your familiarity with certain of its special dimensions. The cache is a medium-sized medicine vial that has been camoed.

I extend my appreciation to DES, whose caches in the “Where Are You...” series inspired this puzzle cache.

Always nice to break a lonely cache streak! This one was made a bit quicker with some crowdsourcing on a few we were not sure of and was pretty much the only one in the series we took that approach on. It was fun to use local knowledge to narrow things down that's for sure! No other cachers were involved with that effort, so that made it fresh for sure. A few of them got to hear about the why that knowledge was sought out, so perhaps end the end we'll have a few new cachers out of this cache as well. Always like that! A bit concerned with the construcstion in the area, but the cache itself had no issues, so no concerns to report on that end. Everything is in fine shape here. Thanks as always for a really nice cache Steve! A pleasure to sign the log.

Took some time and help from friends to locate all the Art pieces for this puzzle. It was such a nice morning today, so I headed out with Dud&Plato to grab this cache. Thankfully the nearby construction does not extend this far and we were able to get the cache. Over the next couple days I hope we'll be able to log the rest of the series. It was nice to be able to give this lonely cache some love and attention. This series has really opened my eyes up to all the beautiful art we have in this town in ways other similar type games haven't even though they bring me to the exact same objects we had to find to solve this puzzle. I'm really thankful to have something getting me to look up from my phone and enjoy all that this great city has to offer. TFTC|SL

I took my puppies Orizaba and Chimborazo on a long walk today; we passed near several of my owned caches, including this one. I did maintenance checks on each of them. This cache was missing, and I replaced it.

I had this one solved for a very long time, but didn't swing by here until after lunch toady. This cache is lonely no more. Nice warm day for a short walk from the parking area. Cache was a bit muddy, but all was well inside. Signed a clean log. I'm done with the "ART" series, now need to finish up the transformer series. TFTC!

Happy Independence Day!! We've had such fun with this series. The cache had water in it which I poured out. The log is wet, but I was still able to sign it. Thanks for the fun and thanks for the cache.

Before the recent snowstorm I spent time checking many of my urban and farm caches and making any repairs that were necessary. This cache and the related art pieces are in proper positions, and the cache await finders.

I found the last missing piece to this puzzle last week, and of course it was actually close to my house, who'd have thought it would be the closest one to me and the hardest to find? Anyways I love these caches and I'm glad I can check another one off the list! I had to go out of town for a few days but I got back in late last night and headed out this morning to find a few of these caches now that I'm back in town. Thanks a bunch for all the fun exploring our town and finding artwork I didn't know existed until now!

What can I say about this cache? My husband will be thrilled I don't do disappearing acts out of the car anymore. "Stop! Let me out! I have to get those coordinates. Drive around the block and pick me up."
We have worked and worked and worked on this cache for months and months and months and months and months. What we couldn't find we tried to google and still we had the most difficult time. Today was the day to locate the final. It was only sprinkling a little. I didn't care if there were hurricane force winds when we had the final coordinates we were looking. Denali41 your caches are special! We feel we really earn your smilies! Thanks for making us more aware of our surroundings!
