To begin this 'Night Cache' park at the Rifle Arch Trailhead. It's about 5 miles North of Rifle on Hwy.13, the parking coordinates are shown below.

The terrain is easy to navigate; no hills and not very rocky. You'll be following a game trail much of the way.

From the gate at the trailhead follow the established trail for about 3/10 of a mile, passing 3 reflective BLM trail arrows along the way. Before you reach the fourth arrow shine your flashlight around and you'll see 1 white reflective 'trailmarker' on the right side of a cedar. This is the location of the posted coordinates and where you will leave the Rifle Arch Trail to start the Wombat Walk.

The 'trailmarkers' are all placed in trees and designed to reflect light directly back to it's source, they work best if you hold your flashlight at eye level when searching for them.

From the starting point shine your light around until you see the next white marker. Follow the trail of single white markers, stopping at each point and searching for the next until you reach the tree with three markers, one white and two brown. While standing there, shine your light around until you see a bright orange marker...this is the location of the cache.
The cache is a camoed coffee can with room for trading items.

On the return trip, the markers are placed so they will lead you back out as well.

Enjoy the hike, but keep an eye out for the Wombats.

Congrats to the go_pokes on the FTF!

Our day was a strange one. We had planned to spend a good amount of time hiking to petroglyphs and geocaches out in Grand Junction, but the area we scouted wasn’t where our local guide took us for petroglyph viewing and there wasn’t any service to check impromptu style. On the way back to Eagle where we are staying with family while on spring break we decided we needed to get more hiking in while the light was available, then we can drive in the dark if need be. We noticed Rifle Arch with the help of google, and even more importantly noticed there were some caches to be found too.

As we approached this one we read the description and were happy to hear it was a night cache, and we were even more excited to find our caching bag supplied with headlamps and flashlights like we ought to. (We always plan for them to be there, but sometimes they don’t make it back into the bag as intended.) And then even more excited that by the time we got to the arch and back here it would probably be perfect dusk time.

Just as dusk was settling in we were back and found that all the flashlights worked except one. So with three headlamps and a powerful flashlight we got to work. After a lot of shining and not finding anything we re-read the description. We had been looking to the right of the path as you head to the arch from parking, but the description says the right of a tree.... OK, so we switch sides and still come up empty.

Then reading the previous logs we see that others are finding tacks on the ground, and that was a long time ago. The micro cachers were champs for getting to the arch and back, but their patience is waning and hunger is starting to set in. We call off the search without even finding the first tack off the trail.

Thanks for putting this here and having the area populated with caches so we would come and enjoy the rest of the scenery.

Walked the walk this afternoon and made repairs as needed.
Found a few issues and made a few adjustments. The Final was in the correct location; unmuggled.
Thanks to thegeogoddess for the note regarding the condition of the cache.

TFTC! Don't know how hard it would be at night, but it was extremely challenging during the day. Left our pathtag! Took a travel bug that we will place in our cache in Silt and log very soon.

TFTC! We went out between thunderstorms tonight so it was a bit muddy, but it was a blast! Just a note, some of the reflectors have fallen off the trees. We tried to stick them back up, but might have missed a few. This was our first cache with tradeables, so we left a small piece of leatherwork I made.
