One of a series of caches recognizing figures from Pueblo's early days.

Alexander Barclay was one of the founders and early residents of Fort Pueblo in 1842. A year later he joined another group of traders in establishing a community at Hardscrabble, about 30 miles west of Pueblo; this settlement was abandoned after a few years and he returned to Pueblo, starting a cattle ranch about 2 miles west of the Fort. After this venture also failed, he moved on to New Mexico

Most of the information to create this series came from the following three books: Pueblo, an Illustrated History by Eleanor Fry & Ione Miller. 2001. Heritage Media Corp. Carlsbad, CA Pueblo, a Pictorial History by Joanne West Dodds. 1982. The Donning Company/Publishers. Norfolk, VA They All Came to Pueblo: a Social History by Joanne West Dodds. 1994. The Donning Company/Publishers. Virginia Beach, VA

Found it with Livie757. We had to climb down two hills because we weren't on the trail. Couldn't find the Dutch Clark one.
