This fantasy geocaching adventure is contained within the limits of City Park and will take you near scenic and/or interesting points within its boundaries as you encounter monsters of various shapes and sizes, hunt for hidden clues and, ultimately, locate the hidden treasure (and sign the cache log). You are highly encouraged to stop and check out your surroundings during your visits to a given waypoint and not just rush from one destination to the next. Some of the stops are ESPECIALLY nice Memorial Day through Labor Day (when the water is running).
What to Expect
* This is a "Choose Your Own Adventure" type cache. The locations you visit during your adventure will vary from party to party and depend on the choices made along the way (and some random luck.)
* Pay special attention to which section you are being directed to next as you complete a task at a given location. DO NOT ASSUME that the next section listed is the one you will be reading and DO NOT READ AHEAD (this will create problems in your ability to complete your adventure).
* Depending on the paths taken during the journey, the total round-trip is expected to be approximately 1-2.5 hours in duration and 1.5-2 miles in walking distance (with FREQUENT stops along the way). You do not need to cross any major roads (except for some roads within the park itself.)
* This cache have been designed with kids (of all ages) in mind. Most waypoints will provide very specific clues to help keep your younger searchers engaged in the hunt during the journey. In addition, any required calculations involved to find the next waypoint will be limited to either very basic number substitutions or simple offset calculations wherever possible.
Important Job Assignments
Before you begin this journey there are also a number of important "jobs" that will need to be assigned to the members of your "party":
* THE BARD - This person will serve as the narrator throughout the journey. Their job will be to DRAMATICALLY read any bolded descriptions, actions and clues presented in this text during the adventure. The bard may also bring a musical instrument on the journey, singing songs about the party's travels, if they wish.
* THE NAVIGATOR - This person will be responsible for holding the "navigational device" and leading the party to each waypoint. They are also tasked with inputting the updated waypoints for each waypoint as required. Finally, the Navigator is empowered to break all tied votes when deciding "where to go" or "what to do".
Required Equipment
The following equipment is highly recommended during this journey:
* One or more copies of "Popular Enchanting" used as a spell-casting reference throughout the quest. It is highly recommended that you print and fold the text as directed. A copy is available from here http://err0r.tech/gc/spellbook.jpg
* A copy of the adventure text http:http://err0r.tech/gc/enchanter_text.pdf must be available to the "Bard/Narrator" during the quest
* A six-sided die (referred to in the text as the "Cube of Assistance")
* A Frotz Emitter (flashlight)
* A note pad and writing implements to keep copious notes (optionally, you can use the pens as wands!)
Recommended Equipment
Although optional, the following equipment is highly recommended for your journey:
* Any number of wands for the "sorcerer" members of your party. You can use your own wands from home, sticks from the park, pencils, etc.
* Comfortable walking shoes
* A sufficient amount of water to accommodate thirsty adventurers
* Adequate protection from the sun (e.g. sunblock, hats, spells, etc.)
* Tweezers
* A photo-capture device (e.g. camera, cell-phone, etc.). People with wands, running through the fields and fighting monsters? Yeah, you'll want to capture some of that.
Other Final Notes
* As you will be journeying through some outdoor areas related to the nearby Denver Museum of Nature and Science, it is highly recommended that you begin this cache in the morning, no earlier than 8AM and no later than 3PM, so that you will be able to complete the cache in one visit.
Don't Get Stuck!
There's nothing worse than being unable to complete something you've spent lots of time on. To help make this adventure as fun for your group as possible, please contact the cache owners prior to your journey so they can provide you with a cellphone # for quick/easy access in case your group gets stuck along the way (e.g. can't find a waypoint, etc.)
Journey Onward
When your band of brave adventurers is ready to begin their quest, proceed to the coordinates posted above.
Narrator/Bard, once your group has arrived at these coordinates, refer to the "Adventure Text" document and read aloud the bolded text in section ###001### (for the full introduction) or go to section ###002### for the "short attention span" version).
GOOD LUCK!
Congratulations to Gronozz (the Green Cat) and (Snugwhump) (the Snuggly Kitten) for being FTF! Also congratulations to Guzeeeeeez (7Geese) for being the first "Family FTF" and winning the secondary prize!
08/03/2018 By nerak2001 I had completed this one before, but the final was missing... and I hadn't gone back for it after the CO replaced it. Today, peace love pi and I went after it and enjoyed the adventure immensely. So many ways to do this multi! Thanks for the creative effort that went into this fun cache! Giving it a fave.
08/03/2018 By peace love pi Nerak2001 and I met up this morning at City Park with the intention of completing this multi and the Alien Adventure puzzle. We started with this multi since it was a perfect morning to be out fighting off evil doers and searching for the Walnut. We had a blast and were ultimately successful, though we were almost done in by the duel with the dragons. I especially enjoyed the literacy trees and the dragon eggs we encountered along the way. TFTC! All is well with this cache. This gets 10 favorite points for enjoyability and creativity.
07/07/2018 By mdawaffe Completed this amazing journey with shell1fish :) Thanks for the opportunity to save the kingdom (and log a cache)!
07/07/2018 By shell1fish I always flip through non-Traditional caches before visiting a new place, and this incredible multi definitely looked intriguing when planning a trip to Denver for a wedding. I was going to have to enlist some help, though, and I wasn’t sure of our schedule. We ended up with some free time the afternoon of the wedding itself, and I had managed to garner three enthusiastic agreements. Unfortunately, our party was halved when the previously interested but non-caching members of our troupe opted to relax in air conditioning instead, but mdawaffe was still game and became the Bard. As the tie-breaking Navigator, I took up the stressful responsibility of all the decision-making, but the Cube of Assistance lent a hand occasionally. Under the brutal heat of the daystar, mdawaffe and I agreed to help the king, and wayfinding geese helped point us in the proper direction early. As we tracked down clues and fought monsters, we scurried from one patch of shade to the next as the temperature approached triple digits. We actually wanted to extend our stay in the nice cool dungeon, but the quest drove us on. We loved how the physical landmarks in the park were incorporated beautifully into the narrative, and we only had trouble at one stage when Freckles insisted on hiding behind some leaves-of-three. Finally, after incredible feats of derring-do, narrow escapes, and a dash of luck, mdawaffe and I saved the kingdom! We admired the enchanted walnut, inked our names on the magic scroll, and picked up Troop 2617 TB. Sadly, the grateful populace neglected to provide us with transportation home, so we had to resort to a more mundane bus to return to the hotel in time to get all dressed up for the evening. In total, our journey took an hour and a half, and we wished we could run through it again with different choices. Thanks so much for such a creative cache, an amazing adventure, and a rewarding find!
04/16/2018 By Trackergirls This was an amazing geocache! The amount of time that must have been spent making this one is unfathomable. We used this with our Girl Scout Troop so they could earn their geocaching badge. What a fantastic start to geocaching.

11/26/2017 By XTerra85 Out on an adventure with my bookends plus 2 geopups. One pup tried to revive the dragon eggs with some "water" but sadly there was no hope. Freckles led us astray and we ended up battling dragons and being the source of entertainment for some folks standing nearby. Definitely a grand adventure. Thanks for another well done cache.
10/28/2017 By ltbuckley First time caching in a long time. Somewhat impromptu so I didn't have a pen. I did find the walnut though (and have photo proof if needed). Great cache with a lot of work put into it. Especially good for children
