The name of the territory about Casco Bay and Presumpscot River, in the area now included in Cumberland County, Maine. It was also sometimes applied to those Abnaki Indians by whom it was occupied. Since the section was settled at an early date by the whites, the name soon dropped out of use as applied to the Indians, or rather it was changed to "Casco," but this was a mere local designation, not a tribal distinction, as the Indians referred to were Abnaki. The proper form of the word is said to have been Uh-kos-is-co, meaning crane or heron. These birds still frequent the bay.

Its been a long hot summer in Texas, I've been trying to get out and do a caching trip a couple of times this summer, but it never worked out. Finally managed to get a week off, and am so happy to be out here in Colorado. The weather if perfect, and there is a load of caches that need my name on Smile Thanks so much for the hide mondou2, I really enjoyed finiding this cache!

Headed to the plains to the caching fields. Grabbing the spares that were missed on previous expeditions. It's the great dust bowl out here today! High winds and obscured visibility. A stampede of 50 pronghorn dashed by me while grabbing this cache. They literally left me standing there eating their dust! TFTC!
