Mt Herman rd is quite rough in spots and you may want to use a truck or SUV to get you to the parking area at the trail head N39 04.277 W104 55.928.
The trail is pretty well marked, it's about a mile to the cache and it is quite steep in places. However, My 10, 8 and 5 year old climbed it with no problems although I needed to pack in my 3 year old. The view from the top is very spectacular and this is why we chose to put our Cache here. The cache is a 1 gallon bucket that is painted to match the landscape. It contains Foreign coins from all over the world and some kids toys. Once you find the cache head north to the summit and the best views. Have fun.

 Hints

Once you reach the top, the cache is to your right about 70-80 feet. As you walk towards it you will see three small trees (15 feet high) growing on top of a rock that form a "W". Now you know you are very close. Good luck.

What a great day for caching. My daughter and I set a goal of 10 near Mt Herman and were not disappointed. This was our first of the day. Great cache and in great shape. TFTC and SL.

A pretty winter day for a hike up the mountain, although there are a few icy patches on the trail. There's snow on the ground, but the cache was easily found. The lid was pretty stiff from the cold, so it was hard to open. Lots of really cool swag, but I did not bring anything to trade. TFTC!

I read through the recent logs for at least a year and a half that the lid has been missing on this geocache so I brought a new bucket with the new lid. I left full of good little toys and a new log. Hopefully this lid will last a very long time as long as people put it on good and tight. And I kind of messed up my own spray paint camouflage job when I kicked the lid on good and tight but oh well. This one is a great treasure trove now , all nice and tight and dry. :)

Found it, yep needs whole new cache or at least a lid. It was totally open. Tried to cover it with sticks. Almost impossible to sign log but I managed. It was water logged and then dried bent stiff.

The cache was wet and in sorry shape.

Enjoyed a hike up Mt Herman trail, north along ridge to Trail 715, and back southwest through Lindbaugh Canyon. Thanks!
