This cache is located in Riverside Park in front of the Old Power Plant. Easy Walking. You may want to park in the parking lot.
This cache pays homage to the lowly industrial locomotives called Dinkies. It was the affectionate name given by those who used them. They were used by the Great Western Sugar Company Refineries to move railroad cars filled with sugar beets. These little engines with their shrill whistle were used up until the 1980's at the Fort Morgan Factory. Today three of the little engines are on display in Fort Morgan making it the "Dinkie Capital of the World." Each of the GW Refineries had at least one of these engines. Most of the engines were were built by the Davenport Locomotive Works, Davenport Iowa. It weighs 20 Tons, has a tractive forces of 8500 pounds and could pull a maximum of 6 load cars. It was limited to that number because it had no air brakes so all of the breaking power was in the engine.

This cache is a magnetic key holder and has only a log. Bring a pen to sign the log. The locomotive is near a park so be careful of the omnipresent muggler. PLEASE RETURN THE CACHE TO IT'S ORIGINAL LOCATION

Neat little cache, now I can say I know what a Dinkie is. And they sure are cute. ;) Based on the flavor text, I think of them as being a tugboat for a train. I am glad I stopped by here, even though it was getting late on a Friday night and there seemed to be a lot of traffic going by the side street. It was a nice little break for a long road trip from Nebraska. Luckily, I was able to grab the cache quickly and make it back home to Denver safely.

I found your cache as part of Team Irish Gold's Epic Roadtrip (or "TIGER"), a 3800 mile journey from my home in Pittsburgh to visit my daughter at her new home in Boulder. The drive was fun because of the great company of Goldilocks, the other half of Team Irish Gold. Along the way we found geocaches in 73 counties within eight states - with NO DNF's!

Today we began heading home after four great days in Colorado, ending the day in Junction City, Kansas. Along the way, we colored in new counties on our map and found additional high quality caches in counties we'd visited during the trip out. We stopped here to score a find in Morgan County. We chose well, as we enjoyed the setting and the history you shared. I scored the find pretty quickly as a hummingbird flitted amongst the nearby flower bed, and as Goldilocks flitted around the Little Dinkie. Thanks, ColMorgan, for hiding and maintaining this cache!

On a Fall trip through Colorado doing some caching and seeing the sites. A beautiful scenic drive through Rocky Mountain National Park. Visiting the downtown areas of Boulder, Denver, Castle Rock and Colorado Springs to name a few. We enjoyed a beautiful hike on the Barr trail at the Summit of Pikes Peak. It was a wonderful trip with quite a bit of caching thrown in along the way. Thanks to all the CO's for all the caches along the way.

My spirits shrank when I saw the beacon: another one of those. I occasionally make a quick find, especially if the container is fairly large and/or there is a good hint, but neither was the case here and I felt that I was looking for a D3 or higher hide. I made one complete circuit and then gave up; too much work and too little fun. TFTC anyway.

Chasing the oldies with AJPerla from Wisconsin. Grabbed a few others along the way in beautiful weather in the 60s. After getting 2 feet of snow last week--this was a blessing to be able to see the ground and find the caches, TFTC and keeping these alive!!BigSmile Answers submitted by AJPERLA
