Special Tool Required  Tree Climbing

There was once a drunken monkey who like to find the most difficult geocaches - almost as much as he liked to drink his favorite flavor of jungle juice. One day he heard about a brand new geocache that was way up in a tree. Since he had been in a slump he thought this was the perfect way to show his friends that he still had it. He called them up on his banana phone and invited them out to watch him show off his climbing and caching skills. The drunken monkey was so confident in his ability that he stoped by the jungle bar for a quick drink along the way. By the time he got to ground zero he was feeling a little funny but his buddies were already there waiting for him. He threw caution to the wind and climbed the tree with his normal reckless abandon. He climbed and he climbed and he climbed. When he reached the cache, he could barely keep his eyes open. It was just out of his reach. He stretched and stretched.... grabbed the cache... then came crashing down. He fell...fell... fell... all the way down until - bonk!

When he woke up he still had the cache in his hand but all of his friends were gone. He laughed as he realized they must have left when they saw him fall. He scared them away from the FTF - HAHAHA! He let out his huge monkey laugh.

He quickly opened the cache - then he stopped laughing as he saw all of his friends name on the little sheet of paper. They left him and took the FTF.

The little monkey got up, signed the log and decided to change his ways. The very next day he climbed into another tree and his this challenge cache just to be a reminder that he should take his geocaching a little more seriously.

To follow the monkey's advice and satisfy this challenge you need to find five different cache types all with a difficulty rating fo 5/5. This cache of course does not count. Use the Challenge checker below to show that you are qualified.

 Hints

This cache is hidden particularly well and you will need to do some serious monkey climbing to get it. Two things to be aware of are GPS bounce at GZ and dead limbs so you don't end up like the drunken monkey of this story. Ladder recommended.

Drunk or sober it's still a challenging challenge. COpackrat and I were in the area working on our to do list and decided to have a look at this one. We lucked out and were able to spot the container from the ground so we at least knew which tree to climb. There enough sap that I don't think I could have lost my grip if I tried. TFTC

WingsAndTales has used Project-GC to see if they qualified for this challenge and they did.

I made it with 6 different types and needed only 5 Filters:( terrains (5) , difficulties (5) , types (Traditional Cache , Unknown Cache , Multi-cache , Event Cache , Earthcache , Letterbox Hybrid , Cache In Trash Out Event , Virtual Cache , Wherigo Cache) )

Found this cache in a very creaky tree. Watch out for the branches, they can break.

Well, I've pondered my earlier "miss" on this one ever since descending from the tree and posting my DNF. So today I returned to the site and repeated a tough tree climb, eventually climbing high enough to encounter the cache. It certainly helps, I discovered, to climb the CORRECT tree, something I had not done on my earlier failed attempt! Yes, this IS a "Challenge", both in terms of the tree work needed as well as in terms of the additional requirements necessary to satisfy the cache specifications. I'm posting an image that shows that I indeed meet the challenge details. To date, I have found 5D/5T caches having nine caching icons.

Oh, I signed the cache log in the {FTF} spot. There are no other names on the cache log paper. Thanks for another interesting one, CEGT!

Well this one defeated me. I’m a little to short and wide to reach the 6 inches more to snatch the cache. My mom was down below yelling at me to stop. The branches weren’t to terrible sturdy either. Lots of deadness. drew blood and ripped my pants.

Let the first DNF be a warning that this hide is very difficult. It is a challenge but the physical hide qualifies it for the rating as well.

Good Luck!

I went after this cache in the morning, to ensure that I was sober. Even then, I couldn't see the cache after I had climbed high in the tree. Did a lot of searching with no success. Perhaps I climbed the wrong tree. For a bit of redemption, I then went and climbed the tree for the new Drunken Monkey cache and signed that log.

I do qualify for this challenge, by having found 5D/5T caches involving nine cache type icons.
