A Steeplechase is a distance horse race in which competitors are required to jump diverse fence and ditch obstacles. Steeplechasing is primarily conducted in Ireland (where it originated)

You won't need a horse or have to jump any fences to find this cache! But one must find the Steeples from local churches and glean the necessary information to come up with the final coordinates.
You will be looking for these elusive steeples from Colorado's Northern Gateway thru Old Town to the Sweet Heart City and other places to glean the necessary information. ?

Well that truly was a chase! I looked at this shortly after I saw it published and knew it would take some time to discover the locations of these steeples. I was correct. Just like CacheU and Sam_I_Am, I did a lot of virtual touring and some physical touring to find these historic churches. I am happy to say that I did locate all 12!!

And because I had all 12 digits, there was no need for me to "battleship" the final location. This morning my puppies and I took a drive, first to drop off my ballot at the new County building, and then to the cache location. When I arrived, my puppies waited in my truck while I searched for the container. I located it very quickly which made the puppies happy because they would have rather been helping me and don't like having to wait in the truck.

Signed the log and replaced the container as found. Then we headed off for Tahosa's new cache that keys off of this one. Thanks Joe!!! These are some fine examples of historic church architecture!

Found with Cache U. I'm a huge fan of old architecture, but I only could recognize one of the steeples right off. Cache U and I spent some time on a virtual tour of Northern Colorado churches, and combined with some actual field work gathered enough info to make an educated guess, which turned out to be correct! We loved visiting some locations we didn't know existed, and learning more about the history of the area. As always, this Tahosa and Sons cache gets a fav!

Wow, this is deserving of its 5-star difficulty! Sam_I_AM and I started working on this about a week ago since we're both fans of local history, and especially old buildings. Most of our "driving" was virtual, and it took several hours to finally locate 11 of the 12 steeples. We then spent the afternoon driving to locations for information that we couldn't glean elsewhere. GE was then invaluable in narrowing down the 10 remaining possibilities to one very likely spot, and it was in the first place we looked. Nice container, BTW!
Now every time we drive past one of these steeples, we'll remember its history as well as this cache! Thanks for a very challenging and enjoyable caching experience!

Several weeks ago I was out geocaching with Tahosa and Corey. We got talking about some of the great art-work caches around Fort Collins, and I mentioned that I was considering adding to my Where Art Thou, Fort Collins; Transform Yourself, Fort Collins; and What Time Ya Got, Fort Collins series with a Where Do You Pray, Fort Collins photo sequence. Joe grabbed on to the concept instantly, proclaiming that a “Steeple Chase” would be a great cache image concept. I replied “Yes! go with it!”, and he did! Denali50 and I have been out of Colorado for more than 3 weeks, and I noted the publication of this new Tahosa and Sons creation while checking emails in a motel room as we were on our long return drive home. I studied the photos carefully, indicating to Denali50 that this would be really challenging. Because I had long ago begun photographing churches in the area as I considered the Where Do You Pray, Fort Collins sequence, I had actually visited and had photos of 3 of the steeples–so I had a modest head start! But only modest it was, indeed. Steeple Chase turned out to be a serious engagement of my time and driving miles before I determined all the digits needed to locate the cache! I was relieved when I visited my calculated coordinates to find it. In fact, I initially overlooked this clever cache container, and it was only as I looked more intently at the possibilities that I noticed it.

This is another example of how urban caching can be really challenging, stimulating, and very satisfying. I’m really happy to claim the {FTF} on this marvelous cache. I signed the cache log at 9 am. Thanks, Tahosa and Sons, for your hard work in pulling this photo sequence together and for laying out the details needed to determine the coordinates of the final. Yes, VERY SATISFYING!
