Northern Saw-whet Owls are nocturnal, with activity beginning at late dusk. During the day, they roost near the ground and depend on plumage for camouflage.  A Saw-whet Owl will elongate its body in order to appear like a tree branch or bump, often bringing one wing around to the front of the body if they feel threatened. Small in size, a Northern Saw-whet is has a short body, about 7-9 inches long and a short tail.

Congrats to Hartsdale for FTF!

We were in the area to look for the final to the Reindeer series of caches, so decided to look for the "owl caches" as well. All the caches were well hidden, the containers were in good shape, and the logs were dry. Thanks for placing and maintaining these caches.

Quite difficult to reach. The container has holes in the bottom and might not last much longer. We put the whole thing in a plastic bag before we placed it back where we found it. Tftc.
