#6 in a series of fact-filled caches filled with facts!
This was the site of the Johnson Farmhouse, so-named because it was a farm house and it was owned by the Johnson family.

The Johnson Farmhouse. Not shown: a warning sign that reads "trespassers will be berated"

In 1961, the American public was still drunk with pride on the accomplishment of making Alan Shepard puke in orbit.  They embarked on a bold plan to cover the entire United States with a network of roads allowing a minimum of interaction with the locals.  Thus, the Interstate System was born.

Here the problem began for the Johnson family.

The Johnson family was embroiled in a long-standing and locally famous feud with the Johnson family, an unrelated nearby clan with an unfortunately similar name.

Nobody knows how the feud started, but the bitter cycle of tribution and retribution culminated in the Johnson family convincing the Federal Interstate Commission to divert a freeway to pass near their gas station and diner.

This forced the Johnson family to deal with a mountain of freeway almost literally outside their doorstep.  In 1963, Harlan Johnson was accidentally killed by a truck while fetching the morning paper.

The homestead has since been razed, leaving only a convenient parking spot for local ruffians to drink and dump old couches.

Some say you can still see the ghost of Old Man Johnson searching for the classifieds in an otherwise lack-luster Johnstown Herald.

You are looking for a well-camo'd, log-only cache containing only a log. That means there's no pens, toys or trackables.  So lower your expectations there, cowboy.

Please carefully restore the camo when done!

Out and about caching with the lovable and cuddly herndonrd (affectionately known by me as Mr. Disneyland - the happiest person on Earth). We decided to spend the day north of Denver to grab lots of letterboxes, multis, Wherigos, and whatever else tickled our fancy.

This was our first stop, and one that we came across by accident. Herndonrd was so busy smiling and enjoying life that he missed our intended exit. As we came back south down the frontage road I noticed all the favorite points on this one so we had to stop. It was worth it, as this is both clever and well done. After we did the sign and replace thing, we were off to find all of the hides we had on our list for the day. Thanks for the fun hide and for your contribution to a great day of caching.

P. S. No animals (including humans, aliens, or PayMeCache) were harmed in the writing of this log.

So every year the Jersey Guys set out on a caching adventure. This year we flew out to Denver, CO and drove to 12 states, covered over 3400 miles, grabbed a few of the older caches along with the oldest in MINGO. We had eight days to do it and saw a lot of cool country. Our path took us from Denver to WY, Utah, Idaho, Montana, ND, SD, Minnesota, Nebraska, Iowa, Missou11012ri and then Kansas, back to Denver. It was a great trip and we found a lot of caches along the way. We thank everyone who placed them, when possible we replaced missing or broken cache containers. The rest of the group posted most of their logs along the way so I hope no one minds this GSAK log. I will go back as needed and supply favorite points as well as any needed photos or answers. Thanks again for all you have done to keep our adventures fun and exciting by supplying and maintaining so many fun hides.
