On October 31, 1993, I was working when I heard a baby crying in a dumpster.  I frantically searched through the dumpster, but couldn’t find him. The crying continued, so I persisted.  Eventually, in a corner of the dumpster, I found a rolled up sock. Inside of it was a black, newborn kitten.  He fit in the palm of my hand. I put him in my car and continued working, with the thought that I would bring him to the animal shelter in the morning. Since I worked over nights, I had to wait until the shelter opened.   I was not a cat person and didn’t know what to do with him. I went to 7-11 and grabbed a creamer. He shunned it. I bought a small can of wet cat food. He shunned it. At 6:30 am, when I finished working, I went to the shelter.  They were closed. I took the little runt home with plans to take a nap and then drop him off in the afternoon.

At my house, he stumbled around and explored while I slept.  I awoke to him curled up on my shoulder. This is how people become cat people.  I took him to the vet and learned what needed to be done to take care of him. It changed my life and his.  The tiny black cat I found on Halloween night, I appropriately named, “Halloween.” But I should have called him Lucky.  Lucky I found him before he succumbed to nature’s cruel fate. Lucky I found him before the dumpster was taken away. Later, I learned that he wasn’t lucky.  I was. And he was my good luck charm. He taught me how to be care for someone or something that deserves it. My little black cat took away one of my superstitions.  I’m not afraid of a black cat crossing my path. Halloween died on October 18, 2013. I was lucky to have him. Now I celebrate when others believe it’s bad luck.

Happy Friday the 13th.  This mystery is all about Friday the 13th.  Thirteen letters in the cache name. The cipher, you might recognize as the ROT13 cipher.  It would be best to decipher this cache before driving to the area. Reception is spotty at best. As always on the Eastern Plains, be careful of Rattlesnakes.

This cache started with one travel bug, and a bucket of awesome swag. The swag included a Tag Heuer Mercedes Benz wristwatch fake, a 3 inch jack, die cast Marvel collectibles, and a bunch of smaller stuff.

The cache is here:

Abegu Guvegl avar guvegl rvtug guerr uhaqerq naq svir, Jrfg Bar uhaqerq naq sbhe guvegl rvtug svir uhaqerq naq fvkgl rvtug.

Congratulations to HerndonRD for the FTF! 19/108

We had an early appointment that brought us to a neighborhood that we haven't been to recently. We opened the app and spotted this cache across the way. We found the correct cipher tool and soon had the coordinates in hand. This is our second large find today. Amazing! Favorite point!

I’ve got to put it out there – when we all are cursing the geo marketers for their wicked souvenir challenges, remember all the great fun and time connecting with other geocachers that occurred and probably wouldn’t have otherwise. PayMeCache and I were working the plan for Day 3 of the Hidden Creatures challenge {the comedy in that statement is that “the plan” was to get it all done on Friday….and then Saturday…and here we are now on Sunday…} when the5millers reaches out in a panic that he might not make it to the coveted World Turtle Souvenir. [YEAH, and why is it a TURTLE gets top billing and all you need for the Unicorn is 5 finds????? – anyway, I digress} So PMC strongly encourages the fine art of the power-trail to the5millers and before long everyone has earned their complete set of Hidden Creature Souvenirs!!! I need to create a PayMeCache souvenir, because without him, we would be out a considerable number of geocaching logs!! TFTC

Teamed up with DimensionGarret, Landen24, weasel311, heh324, the5millers, posh cacher, and magiccacher to finish off some needed caches for the hidden creatures souvenirs. This is the second biggest one I’ve found next to the APE Cache in Washington State. Discovered the three TB’s.

Found GC7MZJ9 - Lucky Black Cat on July 22, 2018 using Cachly for iOS.

Some may call me seriously mentally ill. Some may state that I am in a state of mind that prevents social interaction. Some may say I am in a state of mind that prevents normal perception and or behavior. I prefer to say that I tend to do the same thing over and over again, but I expect different results. That being said, I believe we only live one life and I am trying to make the best of it. I thank you, LostinDenver for placing a fun geocache to fuel my "insanity" or addiction as I call it. I appreciate you bringing me here so that I can try and sign my alias on a piece of paper that you have hidden.

I look forward to finding more of your geocaches. I also look forward to potentially finding geocaches with you one day and sharing stories of our insanity... I mean hobby or addiction? Cheers!

After not being able to what I was originally after, I had to at least grab this one for the sake of the story. Once while out caching with LostInDenver he talked about lucky black cats crossing his path. Now having the back story I learned the meaning of that conversation.
Gets a fav from me! Thank you for the placement!

Found with EasternGirls. I wasn't expecting this size of this type of cache container. Awesome! Enjoyed the interior statue. Dropped 3 travel bugs. Our family cat growing up was a long-haired black cat named Sheba. I have a few photographs of her that I took on my 110 camera. She put up with a lot of my little kid shenanigans.
