Traditional cache that should be an easy find on a pretty hike, approachable from many directions.  We weren't actually planning to place a cache but happened across the location and had a travel bug to deliver so made the cache from materials on hand.

Update - Placed in BLUE Tupperware with swag and Dragonfly TB. Cache now under laying tree trunk within eyesight of the bearing tree.

The name of this cache suggests the significance of this location.  You might enjoy looking into geomarkers with range and township and see what you can learn about this spot.

LOL - last time I was hiking in the park, I took a break within 50' of this cache for lunch and didn't notice the bearing tree, benchmark, or cache. Good thing I'm not a detective. Then again, I was more focused on wildflowers and my silly phone battery that just gives up the chase too soon.

Today I found the bearing tree right off the bat. The cache took a little more time since it is well hidden. TN, L: Wawa card.

So much for a working GPS in the valleys today. 36 ft off this one. Nice secluded feeling spot! Right by the bearing tree indeed! Tftc

It was a beautiful morning for a hike, so we decided to explore the scenic trails west of Palmer Lake. We hiked up from the lower reservoir to get the Sundance Mountain cache first, then continued west aong the "Backwoods Trail" until we got to the the Bearing Tree cache. We didn't go after the Backwoods #1 cache since it had a few recent DNFs by experienced cachers. The trails were snowpacked and icy so we were thankful that we had brought along our trekking poles. All containers and logs were in great shape. Thanks to all the COs for placing and maintaining these caches.
