Experience the beauty of the prairie on the edge of our small town. You could make a quick find by driving to this cache. For the best experience, enjoy the great outdoors by walking, jogging, biking, or (insert your favorite outdoor trail activity here!) from any of the Lamar Loop trail heads. This is an easy find that includes some interesting facts about nearby plant life. Leave with a unique suggestion for your next meal.
The Lamar Loop is 9 miles of new trail that will make recreation in Lamar safer, more affordable, easier to access and fun! The Loop will connect 5 parks, 5 schools, 1 community college, 3 existing recreational facilities, and 3 existing trails. The majority of Lamar residents will live within 1 mile of the Loop. The Loop has been made possible through grant funding from Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) and Healthy Places.
The cache is easily found in the greenbelt, just off the road and slight venture off the Lamar Loop. In the spring, summer and fall, the green belt is a contrast from the surrounding praire landscape. Cattails are abundant the closer you get to the river. The cache is a small plastic box and includes a log book, interesting facts about cattails as well as a recipe for delicious Cattail Pancakes! Help yourself to a copy of the recipe.
