!! Exciting New Cache Series!!

"COLORADO SPIRIT QUEST"

The Colorado Spirit Quest is a series of Caches placed by many individuals, near cemeteries and historic sites in hopes of paying respect to the many pioneer ancestors that have 'walked' before us.

There are hundreds of cemeteries in the rural and mountain communities across Colorado. This series will introduce you to many of them.

The cache pages will provide a virtual history tour of the cemeteries and tombstones.

COLORADO SPIRIT QUEST is not affiliated with any other 'Spirit Quest' group. Special thanks and credit are given to SixDogTeam who started the Indiana Spirit Quest in 2004. The idea has rapidly spread into many states.

The CSQ endeavor is an enormous and relentless task. It cannot be accomplished by just one or two people. This project will only flourish if there is a multitude of volunteer cachers willing to place these caches.

After locating the cache container, take some time to reflect back on the lives of those pioneers and the effort it took to make Colorado such a great state.

If you are interested in joining the "Walking Through History Clan" contact may be made by sending an e-mail to the owner of "Colorado Spirit Quest #1 – Mo untain Passage". Use the 'Send Message" link at the center of the page of their profile.

Each person that places a CSQ cache is responsible for its maintenance.

REMEMBER:

If you are APPREHENSIVE about cemeteries – AVOID this series.

The cache container is a camoed 35mm film canister. You will need to enter the cemetery to find the cache.

This cemetery contains about 600 headstones with the oldest dating back to 1901. The cemetery at one time was known as the Elwell Cemetery

Ahhh, Friday night. A good night for finding... geocaches. After work I drove way up north to the Johnstown/Kelim area to grab some more of the coCreation letterbox series. Along the way I grabbed whatever was in my path - like a hurricane hitting Limon, Colorado. Before beginning I stopped at Duluth to grab some more durable pants. Since I started geocaching I've noticed that normal jeans don't hold up. But I digress. During my journey I saw red tailed hawks, a handful of prairie dogs, a few mice, and only one snake - it was dead :( Just as dusk arrived I looked to the south and saw that I was in over my head. The thunderstorm, which my phone warned me was causing chaos at DIA, had formed a skirmish line to the south of me. I tried driving through it and found myself caught in the 4th hail storm of this season. Luckily, I still haven't repaired the damage :) I ended the night with one geocache in Denver and then Sonic with my geo-buddies, 2LabLovers.
Not under a rock anymore. I picked up it's shelter to see what it was and found the cache. Beautiful cemetery.

Saw this one on our way to some multis so made the stop and after a little searching and rechecking an unusual piece of debris, there it was! Always fun doing a Spirit Quest hide. Thanks for the long time series Grand High Pobah. SL

I love cemetery caches so was happy when lasouthpaw spotted this one. Walked past the hiding spot several times! Sqweeter made the find!

Met up with lasouthpaw and sqweeter to do some of the What the Frack multis and the nearby letterboxes. Managed to add a cemetery cache, a puzzle, and picked up 2 bags of trash in honor of CITO week. A perfect day of caching. TFTC!

I worked on a cemetery challenge that took forever to complete. To this day, I cannot go by a cemetery cache!

Had a great caching day with peace love pi and sqweeter today. I woke up this morning with one set of plans and we wound up changing things around. Headed north and got some What the Frack caches and then stuck around to grab some of the letterboxes. We even threw in a traditional and a puzzle. Before we knew it, we had racked up quite a few finds for the day. Sorry for the cut and paste logs, but I didn't take very good notes today. Most of what we found was in good shape and we didn't have many DNFs today. Thanks for the smiley! Find #2811.
