I love housing pests and would love to share some knowledge with you about one of my favorite bugs, COCKROACHES. They are really fascinating.

There is fossil evidence of cockroaches being on earth for over 300 million years. They are extremely successful because they are so adaptable. There are approximately 3,500 species of cockroaches worldwide with 55 species found in the United States. Colorado is only likely to have maybe 5 species of cockroaches which include the German cockroach, the American cockroach, the brownbanded cockroach, the oriental cockroach, and the wood cockroach. Probably the most common roach I have seen in Colorado is the German cockroach. They are small, approximately 1/2 inch when full grown. They are usually associated with buildings where food is prepared or stored. They migrate into nearby buildings or can be carried in on food containers. They love warm, moist areas, such as kitchen sinks and appliances, bathroom sinks, and furnaces.

Hope you enjoy this cache.

Went for a drive with Spartacus Geodog to find this new cache. After the find, Spartacus checked out the small dog section of the adjacent dog park. Cockroaches do play an important function on the planet; however, they give me the willies. Thanks for a cockroach lesson and new placement in Brighton, buggirl53!
