The Caucasian Wisent was a subspecies of wisent, the European bison, native to the Caucasus mountains in eastern Europe. Until the 17th century, Caucasian wisent was only threatened by predators such as the Asiatic lion, the Caspian tiger, wolves and bears. With the commencement of human settlement in these mountains, the range of Caucasian Wisent decreased considerably. At the same time these species were confronted by a new threat - poaching. Excessive poaching and loss of habitat depleted the wisent population to a great extent, with the number falling to less than 600 by 1917, and further down to less than 50 by 1921. The failure to curb local poaching resulted in the extinction of Caucasian Wisent, with the last reported individual being killed in 1927.

Its been a long hot summer in Texas, I've been trying to get out and do a caching trip a couple of times this summer, but it never worked out. Finally managed to get a week off, and am so happy to be out here in Colorado. The weather if perfect, and there is a load of caches that need my name on Smile Thanks so much for the hide poolsharkycat, I really enjoyed finiding this cache!

Enjoying another day traversing the countryside, acquiring many miles and boosting cache numbers and others in between along the power trails!
Nothing better than caching along the back country roads of America! Thanks for placing these out here. Most were in good shape in these sections however i did replaced wet logs and broken containers as needed. Initialed logs

The fence here is down, I hope when they fix it they don't remove the cache. The container has a hole in it, but the log is dry. TFTC - #1726

I had a much needed geocaching adventure today. I drove over from Denver to Goodland (KS) last night. Got up this morning and continued east to Mingo. Wound up caching my way there and then back towards Denver, ending with a power trail-ish run between Limon and Deer Trail. Got to see lots of sunflowers and even some antelope along the way. Cachly was acting funny, I'm pretty sure it wasn't bringing up all the caches, but oh well. Wound up caching until the sun went down. Now for all those logs…

My Better Half and I were headed to the Denver area to visit family, and we stopped to cache a bit in this area. Initialed most logs with "LC". Thank you so very much for placing/maintaining these caches.
