Since I placed this cache, the the BLM has closed the road that allowed you to get closer to the cache. Park in a DESIGNATED parking area. You then have to walk to N39 10.280 W109 00.760 where you can easily cross the fence. From here, the best route is to go northeast around the hill which provides a nice stroll to the ridge.

The correct route to this cache is an easy stroll except for the climb which is an easy grade. This cache provides a beautiful view of Ruby Canyon and the surrounding hills. The hike to the cache also provides very nice views on both sides of the ridge. There is a 100 yard section of the ridge that is narrow (probably about 10 feet at the narrowest) with cliffs on both sides but can be easily walked across if you are not terrified of heights. BE CAREFUL if you bring kids. The route I took is a 4 mile round trip hike with a 470 foot elevation change. No scrambling is required if you take the right route. The cache is an ammo can that originally contained Happy Meal toys.

Congratulations to earthcurrent for the FTF

Went out today to find Doom Point Cache, but it was too windy for that. So we came out to check on Ruby Canyon. Still here and in good condition. This is one of my favorite spots in the whole state.

I parked the car clear out by the interstate. I followed a dirt bike trail along the fence until I caught up with the approximate directions given in the cache description. From there is a beautiful hike all the way up. What a beautiful day for a hike!

This geocache is the reason I like geocaching. Nice hike, beautiful day, great views. Thanks ColoradoBob for putting this cache here!

Found this one twice, tried 4 times!Frown 4 miles is a long way! We did find a mountain bike trail that made it easier, and dad explained about rockpeckers.

Went back out today. Last decent day around here to go geocaching for a while I suspect. Tough hike. Took a Ninja Turtle and left some State Quarters. Also took a Geocoin and will pass that along.

We tried to go back to this cache because Number One daughter actually wanted to go see it again! But Number Two daughter got to feeling kind of icky and we turned back halfway out. Too bad, because it sure was a beautiful day to be out hiking. Smile
