Big Wind Day commemorates the highest wind speed ever recorded on the planet.

Can you guess where?

No, it wasn't in the middle of a hurricane or a tornado.

On April 12, 1934, the staff of the Mount Washington Observatory recorded the highest surface wind ever measured, anywhere on earth.

This big wind was officially recorded at 231 miles per hour. Imagine the difficulties of even making a recording under those conditions back then!


Will this record ever be broken? Perhaps, but until then, enjoy Big Wind Day.

Went on a spontaneous geocaching adventure with my fine friend, #1 Beefers. We redeemed ourselves with this cache after a search more than 2 years ago that resulted in a DNF. There was some big wind today although it was calm when we found the cache. Thanks for the placement, Imusttravel2000!

Finally found it. The cache container is hanging on by a thread. It might need to be changed. This is definitely not a good area for a disabled person to try to locate it.

Did not find GC2R1XA - April 12th~Big Wind Day on July 20, 2018 using Cachly for iOS.

Some may call me seriously mentally ill. Some may state that I am in a state of mind that prevents social interaction. Some may say I am in a state of mind that prevents normal perception and or behavior. I prefer to say that I tend to do the same thing over and over again, but I expect different results. That being said, I believe we only live one life and I am trying to make the best of it. I thank you, imusttravel2000 for placing a fun geocache to fuel my "insanity" or addiction as I call it. I appreciate you bringing me here so that I can try and sign my alias on a piece of paper that you have hidden.

I look forward to finding more of your geocaches. I also look forward to potentially finding geocaches with you one day and sharing stories of our insanity... I mean hobby or addiction? Cheers!

I found cache about 33 feet west of coordinates but the clue helps. I visited the area a few days ago while waiting for my son and to get a start on the hidden creatures challenge. Thank you for placing this cache and helping to keep our recreation going.
