Here is another neighborhood park: Columbine Park was also a dedicated in the memory to a 6 year old boy who loved coming here but there was an accident and he fell off some rocks on the north end of the park (Daniel E. Felton 1958-1964) A dedication plaque is located NW corner of park.
Originally, in 1963 North Jeffco purchased the property for Columbine Park from Awalt and Frances Marie Black. A lake was built when the park was redeveloped with funds provided by the 1974 City Bond Referendum. The purpose of the lake was to catch the overflow from Spano's truck farm south of W. 52nd Avenue. Spano sold the truck farm to Arvada Urban Renewal and when that project was developed there was no more water available for this park.
Park has 2 tennis courts, picnic tables and benches, horseshoe pits, and a playground.
Street parking on w. 53rd and a small parking lot at the end of w. 52nd pl.
Congratulations to Alpenist and his family for FTF honor.
