Today my puppies Orizaba and Chimborazo joined me for a hike to the top of Hewlett Gulch. As I came to each of my caches I detoured off the trail to check on each of them. All is fine with this cache.

I solved this puzzle, Me not Hubby! Ok I had a nudge from the owner. I have been waiting for a special occasion to go after this cache and today was the day. This is cache #5000!
We got to the trail head about 8 this morning. It was quite chilly in the shadows of the mountains. Not very far into our journey we came across a big pile of bear poop in the middle of the trail. It was full of berries and looked like the bear might have had a tummy ache! Anyway I'm glad we didn't see him!
I don't know if we picked the best way up there, but we made it. And the way I picked to come down wasn't any better. Hubby bent one of his trekking poles coming down. Once we were back on the trail he straightened his pole the best he could and off we went to look for a couple more in the area.
Thanks so much for this cache!

Our oldest son and his wife had been visiting us this week and they had to drive back home to North Dakota today. They headed north about 9:30 am and after they left my wife asked me what I planned to do on Father's Day. That was an easy answer, a hike!
I wasn't able to leave the house until about 10:30 so it was a later start than I had hoped for. It was almost 11:30 when I arrived at the trailhead parking area and I was fortunate to get the last spot in the lot. But just as I stepped onto the trail the raindrops started falling. I surveyed the skies and decided to keep on heading up the trail as the clouds to the north and northwest didn't look too bad. I was glad I packed my rain jacket as it rained lightly for about the first half hour of my hike and then it quit. After that the skies were still overcast but no more rain fell.
This was one of the caches I had on my list to go for today. The puzzle was a real problem for me. I just could not figure out what I needed to do to get the solution. About a month ago, Denali41 and I were hiking and caching near Evergreen and he gave me a generous hint at how to go about it. Later that night I worked on it some more and I was finally able to get the coordinates to the final. Thanks Steve!
I soon arrived at the point I needed to leave the trail and head for the "top." I slowly picked my way up to GZ and began my search. The coordinates were spot on and the find was made quickly. I signed my name on the log, re-hid the cache, and headed off for target number 2, Denali41's new multicache.
Thanks Steve for placing this very tricky puzzler!!!

Took advantage of the beautiful weather today to get out to locate this puzzle cache.
We were going to head out on Sunday but after 1/2 of our team did a 1/2 marathon in Fort Collins we decided to hold off a few days. Today was the day to head out with Honeybuzzed to make the find.
The only thing missing on our hike today were the spring wildflowers that we normally look forward to. Will be back.
nicely done. Favorite
