Park at or across the road from the Palisade Heritage area sign about .25 of a mile from the east bound on ramp to I-70,(no exit off I-70 at this point) on Hwy.6. Exit 44
Start about 100 yards south of the canyon where the concrete canal heads underground. Look to the east for a trail that heads uphill. After a short hike it will be obvious that the main trail heads up and south.

The steepest part of the trail is the first .25 of a mile. It gets easier after that and the sounds of I-70 will fade away.

The first long view is of the start of Debeque Canyon and the bridge over the Colorado river.

The second long view is of the town of Palisade in the foreground with the Bookcliffs to the north and Grand Junction and the Colorado National Monument in the distance to the west.

The cache is a standard green ammo box.

With your back to the Fist, look to the Northeast for a large rock where nature has created a perfect spot.

Gorgeous off trail side trip to a pretty incredible natural feature. I finally got to make a find.

Lots of rocks and boulders, I didn't think we'd find it but Kerry walked us straight to it. TFTC

We've seen this rock formation from a safe distance but today this cache brought up close and personal. Man, it was windy up there but it seemed as if the wind blew us straight to the cache! The container and log are in fine shape. We signed the log as "KC + SLY" and replaced. Thanks for a great hike!

Decided to head up the hill and look for this one….and indeed it was up there. Easy to find once you do the climb….which I didn't do - the spouse did. Guess I need to limit my geocache downloads to those of difficulty 3 or less! TFTC!
Post-hike reward.

This has been on the list for a couple years. The stars and planets align.... TaDa. We made it out for a hike today. What a great day compared to the last week when winter seemed to return again. What views of the valley, as a kid I don't know why we never explored up here.

Very nice cache! I grabbed this on my way to the upper loop and some exploring of the Palisade Rim area. This is my favorite sort of cache and I thoroughly enjoyed the visit. I like to browse through a proper log instead of fight with a scrap of paper wrapped like a piece of spring steel! Some sizable chunks of rock have recently fallen off below the "finger", probably from the winter thaw this year, but it looks like the whole thing will be there for awhile longer yet. If I were premium, I'd give this a favorite point for sure. TFTC.

Dropped a TB.
