This cache was placed to commemorate the legend of the cottonwood tree. While looking for the cache, break a small dead twig at a joint and look for the star at the broken end.

Native American legend has it that stars are formed under the earth and wander around until they find a cottonwood tree to live in. They travel up the roots of the tree and follow the branches to the very end, where they live in the knotty little twigs. When the twig the star is living in is broken, the star is released and a new star is born in the night sky. Whether or not the legend is true, if a cottonwood twig is broken at one of the many knobs or junctures, a perfectly formed five point star can be seen at the point of the break.

Out caching with FeartheFish which means me driving his butt all over the place like usual. Hide wasn't exactly like it should be so found it easily. Restored it to its original configuration. TFTC!

Came from the southeast - some road. Thought that we knew what we were looking for, wrong again. Still, not too bad. Thanks. Jim and Audrey.

I found it after receiving a hint from a previous finder. I should have been able to find it on my own. Great hide. A fav for sure. Thank you for the cache.

I added to the ring stomped in the growth surrounding the tree but was unsuccessful in my search. I'll have to give it another shot later. Thank you for the hide.

Since my folks live at the other end of Tomahawk & we're going there for the 4th I decided today would be a good day to search for this challenging cache. We came from the south which I wouldn't recommend without some clearance. North is much better! We searched some obvious places for a few minutes before the huggle announced "got it. "
