This cache is located about 4.2 miles east of the Salida city limits, off of US 50 (near Wellsville). A short hike up a rocky jeep road about 7000 ft. above sea level is required.
This is the first cache I've placed. To find it I recommend you take US 50 east from Salida and park off of the highway where the jeep road begins (about N 38°29.874' W 105°55.191'). If you have a high-clearance vehicle, you may be able to drive most of the way. Otherwise, the hike is about .3 mile with a 150 ft. rise. The cache is in a clear Rubbermaid box with blue trim around the lid. The original contents are: log book with pencil; disposable camera; cow-driven toy car; cross bookmark; bookmark from Sydney Harbor National Park, Australia; Smiley face key ring; 4 bags of fossil(s) collected around N 32°38.111' W 097°29.220'. For your safety, please note: The cache is NOT at the top of the nearby cliff, so please don't climb up there searching for it. Update: On April 14, 2004 the cache was replaced -- the original one was apparently swiped. Included in the mostly clear Tupperware-like container are: split geode, magnifying glass, water gun, penlight from "Los Alamos", hot wheels car, key ring lock thawer and penlight, Space shuttle lapel pin from Kennedy Space Center, Blockade pen game, belt key ring with pen from "Colorado", "Colorado" deck of cards. There is also a disposable camera, so please take your picture. Thanks to Rejoice and my dad for putting this cache back in order!

Now the name of the cache makes sense. We found the white plastic container torn up beyond repair. Glad we had a replacement container with us. Now it's a camouflaged metal one. Hopefully it will weather a bit longer. Thanks for the hide.

Good title! In the area camping and out for a caching adventure today. We found out that our Dodge Ram pickup can maneuver this 4WD road just fine. Retrieved the trackable. Thanks for the excitement on this road and for the placement, DoodleBug!

Found with LolosDream today. We left Denver on a trip to collect counties after Woodstock. This was our twelfth cache of the trip and what an amazing view! Neat to see the nine holes in the wall. No YB in cache. TFTC!!
