The cache is located on the BLM ground, just up from Battlement Mesa. Terrain is fairly flat (not a typical Polaski cache), but through an old fire scar with lots of basalt rock. Watch your footing. Oh, and then there's an intermitent ditch that may be running during certain times of the year. Roll up you pant legs or look for the wooden bridge.
So it was Super Bowl weekend, 2010 and some Pirates were in town and challenged us, the Fire Department Truck Monkeys to a game of football. If they won, we would have to swab the decks of their pirate ship and if we won, they would have to wash and shine the new fire truck. The game was close through the first three quarters and the Truck Monkeys were still leading during the fouth quarter, but only by two points. The Pirates had the ball and were ready to kick a field goal with just 23 seconds left in the game. The Pirate Captain looked at the goal post and then at his first mate and gave the signal to hike the ball. The crowd watched as the Captain took two steps and kicked the ball. Both teams watched as it sailed through the goal post. The Pirates cheered, but everyone else turned and looked back at the Pirate Captain to see the ball still on the ground, held by the first mate. The Pirate Captain had missed the ball entirely and sent his peg leg flying through the air instead. Time ran out and the Fire Department Truck Monkeys had won. The Pirate Captain was so mad that he never even went looking for his missing leg. He just sort of hopped away..........

After reading the previous logs, I brought along a temporary replacement cache. It is an olive drab peanut butter jar. It should do until Polaski can get a REAL replacement cache. Bummer that the original was destroyed. Hope the CO doesn't mind that I placed a replacement cache. Because of High water, I had a DNF on this cache a couple of years ago.

Now I'm really "Tee'd Off", but the not so nice kind. Some one has shot the pirates leg and removed the tee, football and shoe! Why?????? If you check the photo from 3/16, I've used one of the items in the picture for the "temporary" cache container until I can build another to keep the story alive. It's a sad day in cacheville when muggles reek havoc on defenseless containers :0(
