The Grand Lake Post Office is small, but it serves a very large summertime community when the local population swells to thousands of people. This mountain town is a destination vacation spot in the high Rocky Mountains at the Western Entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. Two very key precepts regarding access to this geocache: Park along the the road, and secondly, absolute STEALTH is required because of all the traffic. Bring a pen.
The Grand Lake Post office was located in many buildings since mail was originally brought to Grand Lake by the Pony Express. In the Post Office hallway opposite hundreds of Post Office boxes is a large framed picture which includes many pictures of the previous Grand Lake Post Office buildings, and many of the Postmasters. John Baker appears to be one of the earliest Postmasters in a picture dated January 10th, 1879.
Please return the geocache container to it's exact location after you sign the log, and remember to operate in a very stealthy manner.
