A small historic rest stop on hwy 160. A perfect spot for travel bugs.

This small historic rest stop was the scene of an EPIC BATTLE.It all began when the Ute and Navajo tribes frequented the healing waters of the Hot Springs. The two tribes often fought over the rights to the springs. They decided that rather than continue battling they would conduct a duel. The Navajos selected a large warrior from their tribe. The Utes asked their friend Colonel Albert Pfeiffer who willingly agreed. The choice of weapon was a knife wielded with one hand tied behind the back. Colonel Albert Pfeiffer out maneuvered the lagre Navajo warrior winning the deul and the Utes exclusive right to the healing water hot springs.

We're crossing the SW corner of the state on the way home from a cross country trip. We rode the Cumbres Toltec RR yesterday and are heading for Moab to visit Arches National Park tomorrow. This cache had an interesting story, a nice pull out for the 'monster' (car & trailer) and fun hunt. Thanks for the hunt.

We are staying in Pagosa Springs for a week at a timeshare with friends Dugeagle and caching this area. This was a cache we targetted and found. Greetings from Australia. Thanks to gcatpagosa for hiding this cache and adding to our enjoyment of the area.
