A tough hike off the trail with lots of cactus! 5/5 would hike again. 1/5 would bring dog again... Don't bring your dog without cactus proof booties...

I was very close to this one, but decided to try another day. The wind was blowing and nobody else was with me besides my dog. He was very concerned about me climbing around in places he didn’t think he could get to safely. I trust his judgement so we headed back. It was beautiful here though! Thanks for the excuse to try a trail I hadn’t hiked before.

Fav pointing it because of how good of shape it is in and the path to get to it.

Just about 2 years between finds on these up here. We plan on putting a few caches up here so maybe we can get more visitors to this one. It's in good shape. We too took the top route to this one (ended up climbing down to it). TFTC

Whoa! Over 2 years since the last claim? Well, it was certainly more climbing than I needed to so seeing we cut across. That is not necessary so we certainly earned our 5 terrain. Came across from West End. Glad to grab this on a beautiful hike out from RT 47 hike.
Cache was secure. Closed tightly. Ziplock is useless but log was dry and no worse for wear. TFTH

This was the adventure for the day. Managed to get it in and back to the vehicle before the afternoon monsoons started. I explored one route (it didn't work) and animjason tried another. He got there first. Thanks for the fun.

I got up early this morning, expecting to make a long hike (with a lot of vertical elevation gain) to "scout out" a Colorado Mountain Club trip I'm leading on Saturday to Flattop and Ptarmigan Point and Knobtop and Gabletop in RMNP. But when I checked the weather forecast for that elevation I discovered that wind chills today were anticipated in the range of 20 to 25 degrees below zero in that area. So, a sudden change in plans....oh, what to do. Well, two caches have been on my mind for a long time as priorities--"An Eagle Soars", and "West End". Their presence without my having gone after them has been a constant nag. And my puppy Teewinot LOVES the Button Rock Preserve. So the decision for today's modified objective was pretty easy! We went for these two GREAT caches, and were rewarded with finds on both. The 10-mile total hiking distance was perfect for today, and we made an elevation gain of approximately 1,400 feet. So it was a fine day in the lower mountains, even though it was chilly! Thanks so much for this great cache. It and the other objective for today finally completed finds for us on the 19 caches that are accessible from the standard trails plus the "hidden" trail in this preserve. So, 19....what's next here? I hope something that will be placed that is as exciting and rewarding as this one has been. And my puppy Teewinot gives many "woofs" of excited approval. THANKS!

A great adventure with this cache ... no eagles today nor any Snattle Rakes (Thank goodness). Sun wasn't out too strong today so probably kept 'em hiding. To reiterate an earlier comment ... a straight line from the trail is not going to be the easiest approach. If you are hikin' in for this one .... be advised to bring a fishing pole and finish the hike to the inlet. Good fishing! Of course, the City of Longmont requires a special permit to fish in this one, so plan ahead. It is a beautiful lake. Take in the views from the GC location .... awesome! SL; took geocoin to help continue its travels. TFTC.

Was pretty psych'ed finding this cache ....think I may have even signed it "8/05" rather than "9/05". Oh well, it was a fun one! I was fishing today - we like to go back to the headwaters - so on the way out I decided to nab this cache. Probably should have done it on the way in. Was pretty tired on my way up.....decided to approach from the west (I checked out the location pretty good on the way in). As it turns out this wasn't a bad choice, since it was pretty easy getting up to altitude. I actually eneded up a little higher than the placement and had to come down a ways. Once at GZ - I couldn't spot the cache...looked and looked...sounds like I wasn't the only one! I did finally find it though. SL; TNLN.

Yes!! I finally made the trek back to this cache! It took quite a lot of searching to finally locate. I guess I took the wrong way. Eventually, I went the right direction and spotted the cache. It wasn't that bad getting there from where I was, but I used to do some rock climbing! I was very excited, so I stamped the log 7 times, then wrote a few words. I found the camera, so I took an ugly picture of myself. SL, traded coins, THANKS!!
