Torrey's, Gray's, and Bierstadt are black diamond steep glades on the far East of Montezuma Bowl. There is no easy way in, and there is no easy way out. Ski too low and you wind up with a hike. Hiking in the summer may be extremely difficult as well.

Torrey's, Gray's, and Bierstadt are black diamond steep glades on the far East of Montezuma Bowl. You have to ski one of these to get to the cache, and the path out is very steep tree skiing.

This is an area of steep tree skiing. The snow can vary from deep powder, wind blown, moguls, or hardpack, depending on the recent weather and skier traffic. The cache is a bright red micro, easily visible on a vertical bare (almost) dead pine snag.

Geocaching Colorado

This run is rated black diamond by Arapahoe Basin, but could easily be double diamond. There is no easy way in, and there is no easy way out. Hiking in the summer may be extremely difficult as well.

A fun one! Navigating through the trees is a challenge!

I'd like to claim a find here but there is no way I could get anywhere close to this one while belwig was making the find. My skiing has gone downhill (pun?) as I've gotten older, but belwig is still pretty much at the top of his game. Fun going caching and skiing with him and many thanks for providing winter friendly caches.

After getting the much easier Ned's nearby and scoping this one out from below, I decided I had another run down Zuma's in me. This was my most fun run of the day. Came across a mix of Torries and Grays, and then gingerly approached several areas (since deep snow meant I did NOT want to overshoot it). I was relieved to see this (no longer bright) red container. Signed our group in with b+p+s. The trip out is trickier. Best one of the day. Fav for sure. Thanks.

After locating a cache on the complete other side of the bowl, I navigated to this one. Due to all of the trees and perhaps the direction this area faces, the snow over here was more firm and held up better later in the day. In fact, I made a few more runs through here after making the find. Quick and fun cache on a sunny, mild March day. TFTC!
