Head down the hill. Choose any of the trails as they will all lead you to your next stop. At the bottom of the hill look for a large metal pole with the number one on top. The prize will be 715 feet away at 314 degrees. You are looking for a hanging container on a large split trunk tree. Please leave the stamp in the container as it is not a trade item.
Ski or snowboard in the winter or a nice long hike in the summer.
This is a double black diamond hill. Please know your limits before attempting. Always be prepared for high alpine conditions regardless of time of year.

I'm slowly logging the ski caches at Copper - this is one of my favorite parts of the resort. Decent conditions on this Sunday, with some light snow falling. TFTC!

Tried this several years ago but was way off. Ended up hiking back up hill 80ft avoiding tree wells and thigh deep holes. The hide was like a magnet though. Filled in another gap on the D:T grid. TFTC to the Master Chef.

There was only one way I could go after this geocache and that was to go on a hike. I came at this from the bottom so maybe that's the hard way, I don't know. I followed what is laughably a service road to get to the ski slope. Only a high-clearance, rock-climbing, 4x4 with differential locks could make it up that "road". I made a pretty good deduction on where to find the pole with the number one and headed straight for that location. From there, I set my GPS with the distance and direction and headed to the spot. Whew, what a hike! It was worth it though because I needed the difficulty/terrain rating of this Cache for number 79 on my difficulty terrain rating Matrix. Problem with the Matrix is as you go after the final unfilled spots it's very very difficult to even find caches that have 4.5 ratings in either difficulty or terrain. This is only one of maybe three that are even close on my trip this time, a trip with a distance of a couple thousand miles. The other two terrain ratings will have to wait for another trip because I didn't find anything that was remotely accessible in the time constraints that I have on this trip. Thanks for the very awesome geocache placement. I wish I could give more than one favorite.

This was the last cache on the county run for the day and we still had lots of day light. We got to the road where we thought we could get close to the cache but it was blocked with construction, but as luck would have it, one of my buddies wives riding with us knew one of the construction workers and he told us about an alternate way that they made for the folks that work on the mountain in the Summer. So, we were delayed about 20 minutes. That wasn't the end of the story though.

We get to the where we think the cache is and looked everywhere so we could get home, and then I took a minute and actually read the cache description and as it was a letterbox which has the unique ability to have characteristics of other caches, like mysteries and multis. Go figure, where we needed to go and end up took almost past sunset to get the cache. My bad for wasting 30 minutes not reading the cache page. My muggle friends were not amused. Fav point.

Woohoo! This was the last of three finds I had hoped to make while in Copper. And the first of this sort for me. Technology and corn snow made this one doable. Went for the GZ at 2:45pm on our last ski day for the year - one and only one shot at it. The sky was crystal clear blue and the temperature a balmy 45 or so. With a little luck I made the find and still had time for a few more turns under the Super Bee with family. Thanks for the hide!
