The Dozer Trail begins at the base of the Manitou Incline and switchbacks up the hillside to the north. On our way up the Incline last summer, we watched this trail being built. At the time, we weren't sure of its purpose, but couldn't resist checking it out. Manitou Cacher said that this trail forms part of the dozer line cut to contain the Waldo Canyon Fire. As far as we know, the trail has no official name, but given its history, we're calling it The Dozer Trail.

From the cache, if you continue up the trail a short distance to the top, you'll see a sophisticated shelter made of stone and mortar. It is occupied. Welcome to Manitou's Hooverville.

Paid parking is available along Ruxton Avenue. From the trailhead, the hike is about 3/4 of a mile and 400 feet elevation gain. My apologies for the micro, but anything larger would be too easily spotted.

Quick find. Container is covered with gooey tree sap. Oh well, didn’t have to worry about my GPS falling out of my hand for the remainder of the hike. :o) Thanks for the cache.

Found this on my way to "undimmed by human tears." Just happened to see this as I was passing by. Nice lookout point. Good camo.

We went out on a fun hike with Back Country Horsemen along the Ute Pass Trail. We hiked for 12 miles over 6 hours and found 10 caches along the way.

This was the last cache find of the day. We had to do some backtracking to get to this one, but it was worth it to not leave a lonely unfound cache in the area. Pretty easy find once at GZ.

This is day 1318 of our current daily caching streak (day 22 of our Mystery Cache streak). Thanks again for helping us to extend our streak by another day.

TFTC!
