small silver can with silver tape. Holds some treasures. Park down by the cottonwood trees.Pretend that u are standing here in the years of 1880's to 1920's. Picture before u, toward the river, row upon row of homes with manicured yards and beautiful flowers. In those days the twin towns of Concrete, on the north side of river and Portland, on the South. The output of concrete in the mine at Concrete was 750 barrels per day, at 75 cents per barrel making for a very lucrative tax base. The school in the town of Concrete was the envy of the state during the 1920"s. A family named Blunt ( Coal miners from Coal Creek, Co) were instrumental in starting Concrete with several investors, one being, Aldolph Coors. Ideal Cement purchased both Concrete and Portland during the end of the 1920's. They closed Concrete and concentrated operations on the Sorth side of the river in Portland. I am told that tunnels and storage tanks riddle the underground here. All the homes have been moved to other locations. I lived in the town of Portland in the 1960's. At that time there were still many homes where the Park is now located. The present owners of this company own the mineral rights to property from here to the North East and past HWY 50 to Top Rail Ranch, where future mining will take place.
